Recherche Ingenieur mecanique avec 5-10 d'experience en conception de turbine ou alternateur pour les centrales hydroelectriques. Le poste est en presentiel au bureau de Brossard avec possibilite de teletravail 2 jours par semaine

Au sein de GE Vernova, division Hydro, et plus precisement de l’equipe Support site Fiabilite et Operation, l’ingenieur(e) ''lead'' travaille sur la rehabilitation de turbines et de generateurs hydroelectriques ainsi que sur de nouveaux projets, en appui aux activites de service, de garantie et de cloture de projet. Il ou elle evolue au sein d’une equipe de plus de 20 ingenieur(e)s qualifie(e)s, reconnue pour sa rapidite d’intervention et sa capacite a resoudre les problemes.

Job Description

Responsabilites essentielles

Soutien en ingenierie aux activites sur site

  • Effectuer des visites sur site afin d’evaluer l’etat des turbines et/ou alternateurs existants, et superviser les essais de reference sur l’unite avant le demontage sur site.
  • Tenir un appel telephonique quotidien avec l’equipe de chantier afin de repondre aux questions et d’anticiper les problemes potentiels.
  • Formuler des recommandations de travaux additionnels a la suite du demontage et de l’inspection des composants existants.
  • Examiner et approuver les fiches de releves de chantier.
  • Resoudre les non-conformites et les problematiques generales.
  • Effectuer des visites sur site pendant les phases critiques du projet.
  • Soutenir les activites de mise en service et les phases d’essais.

Fiabilite

  • Resoudre les problemes durant la periode de garantie.
  • Transmettre le retour d’experience a l’equipe de conception.

Operation

  • Agir a titre de principal point de contact sur site pour les contrats d’exploitation et de maintenance.

Service

  • Faire la conception et la documentation connexe pour les projets de service (projets de 5M et moins) , notamment en soutien a la clientele, en evaluation de l’etat des equipements, en gestion des pieces de rechange, en remise a neuf de pieces et en refection partielle de turbine / alternateur.

Qualifications requises

  • Baccalaureat en genie mecanique.
  • Minimum de 5 ans d’experience pertinente dans le secteur hydroelectrique.



  • Être membre de l'ordre des ingenieurs du Quebec.
  • Doit etre legalement autorise(e) a travailler au Canada sans restriction.

  • Creativite, rapidite de reaction, sens de l’urgence, bon equilibre entre jugement pratique et rigueur scientifique, gestion des priorites, proactivite, autonomie et excellentes aptitudes en communication sont des qualites essentielles pour ce poste.Disponibilite et capacite a voyager en Amerique du Nord et a l’international.
  • Capacite a communiquer efficacement avec des equipes chantier et avec les clients.
  • Connaissance de la conception des turbines et generateurs hydroelectriques ainsi que des methodes de montage.
  • Experience en conception mecanique, en resistance des materiaux et experience avec des logiciels de dessin 3D.
  • L’experience en calcul par elements finis, a la metallurgie et aux procedes de soudage constitue un atout supplementaire.

English:

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer with 5–10 years of experience in the design of turbines or alternators for hydroelectric power plants. This is an in-office position based at our Brossard location, with the option to work remotely two days per week.

Within GE Vernova’s Hydro division—specifically the Reliability and Operations Site Support team—the Lead Engineer works on the rehabilitation of hydroelectric turbines and generators, as well as on new projects, providing support for service, warranty, and project close-out activities. The successful candidate will work as part of a team of over 20 skilled engineers, renowned for their rapid response times and problem-solving capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

Engineering Support for On-Site Activities

  • Conduct site visits to assess the condition of existing turbines and/or alternators,



    and oversee baseline unit testing prior to on-site disassembly.
  • Hold daily conference calls with the field team to address questions and anticipate potential issues.
  • Formulate recommendations for additional work following the disassembly and inspection of existing components.
  • Review and approve field measurement sheets.
  • Resolve non-conformities and general technical issues.
  • Conduct site visits during critical project phases.
  • Support commissioning activities and testing phases.

Reliability

  • Resolve issues during the warranty period.
  • Provide feedback to the design team.


Operations

  • Act as the primary in office point of contact for operations and maintenance contracts.


Service

  • Perform design work and prepare related documentation for service projects (projects valued at $5M or less), specifically in support of customer service, equipment condition assessments, spare parts management, component refurbishment, and partial turbine/alternator overhauls.

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in the hydroelectric sector.
  • Member in good standing of the Ordre des ingenieurs du Quebec.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in Canada without restriction.


Desired qualifications:

  • Creativity, responsiveness, a sense of urgency, a strong balance between practical judgment and scientific rigor, priority management skills, proactivity, autonomy, and excellent communication skills are essential qualities for this position. Availability and ability to travel within North America and internationally.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with site teams and clients.
  • Knowledge of the design of hydroelectric turbines and generators, as well as assembly methods.
  • Experience in mechanical design, strength of materials, and 3D drafting software.
  • Experience in finite element analysis, metallurgy, and welding processes is considered an additional asset.
  • Must agree to undergo pre-employment screening, including but not limited toreference checks and background checks.
