.Looking for a hands-on job where you can learn current skills and make a difference?

Conayt Friendship Society is hiring a Maintenance & Housing Support Worker to help maintain our housing properties and office facilities. This is a great opportunity for Indigenous youth who enjoy working with their hands, staying active, and developing practical skills in building maintenance, landscaping, and property care.

No extensive experience is required. You’ll gain valuable real-world experience while helping create safe, welcoming spaces for community members. If you’re reliable, motivated, and eager to learn, we’d love to hear from you.

What You’ll Be Doing

You’ll help maintain housing units, outdoor spaces, and the Conayt Friendship Society office building.

No two days are the same. You may:

- Complete basic repairs such as painting, caulking, light plumbing, repairing fixtures, and other minor maintenance tasks
- Assist with general upkeep and maintenance of the Conayt Friendship Society office and facilities.
- Help prepare housing units for new tenants
- Care for lawns, gardens, and outdoor areas (mowing, trimming, weeding)
- Keep parking areas, walkways, and common areas clean, safe, and welcoming
- Assist with housing inspections and report maintenance concerns
- Organize and maintain tools, equipment, and workspace
- Work alongside a supportive team to improve housing for community members

Who Can Apply? To be eligible for this position, you must:

- Must be First Nation (status or non-status), Inuit, or Metis
- Must be between the ages of 15-30
- Have a clean Criminal Record Check
- Under the youth employment program requirements

We’d Love to See:

- Valid BC Driver’s License and reliable vehicle
- Previous maintenance, landscaping, or construction experience
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Knowledge of Indigenous communities and cultural awareness
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
