Career Opportunity
Our Bus Maintenance and Shops Department has an exciting opportunity to join its team as a Maintenance System Controller. The successful incumbent will ensure information systems are developed, modified and managed to meet the business requirements. This position will require liason with other departmental system users to ensure the systems are fully operational. The role will also organize data to conduct detailed assessments and analyses (e.g., reports on operating budget and performance measurements).
What You Will Do
- Ensuring that the information systems used by the Department are developed, well structured, used, administered, modified, managed, and supported in a highly effective and efficient manner in order to meet the Department’s objectives, and business requirements
- Monitoring the operation, training, enhancement, and effective use of the systems on an ongoing basis to ensure maximum efficiency, optimal use of system capabilities, functions, and adherence to prescribed procedures and controls for corporate systems (i.e., VWOS, Defect System, Mileage System, March Networks Enterprise Service Manager, and, Datamart) and Departmental systems (FMS, Employee Database, Fluids Management, Low Brake Mileage, Maximo IMC Calls, Quick Assist, WMS, Bus Maintenance Website, etc. and, newly developed in-house applications)
- Liaising with Department system users (Bus Maintenance staff, Wheel Trans staff, and Rail staff), Materials and Procurement (M&P;) staff, Workforce Administration staff, and Information Technology Services (ITS) staff to ensure that the systems are fully operational and that user’s business requirements are met
- Retrieving, utilizing, and organizing data provided from these systems to conduct detailed analyses, thorough assessments and evaluations,
and also report on the Department’s operating budget and performance measurements
- Participation in the TTC customer service Ambassador Program
- Responsible for treating passengers and/or employees with respect and dignity and ensuring the needs of passengers and/or employees with disabilities are accommodated and/or addressed (within your area of responsibility) in accordance with the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders so that they can fully benefit from the TTC as a service-provider and an employer

What Qualifications Do You Bring?
- Completion of a University Degree or College Diploma, in a related field of study, or a combination of education, training and experience, deemed to be equivalent.
- Project Management Skilled (PMP) certification is an asset
- Thorough knowledge of business and systems development methodologies, tools and techniques including preparing system specifications, requirements, feasibility studies, detailed design development, implementation, programming, quality assurance, training, and project management
- Excellent knowledge of mainframe, personal computers, hands-on architecture and development experience using Microsoft Applications (i.e. Access, Front Page, Project, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio, SharePoint), MS SQL, Visual Basic, Oracle, C#, Crystal Reports, Cognos, Visual Studio Fox Pro, SharePoint, Business Objects and Web based programming languages (i.e. HTML, JavaScript, ASP, PHP, SAP)
- Must have or quickly acquire good knowledge of TTC and Departmental policies, practices, standards, and processes pertinent to areas of responsibility and use of current departmental and corporate systems used within the department (i.e. VMS, VWO, VMSR, etc)
- Must acquire knowledge of system capabilities and limitations, and all associated applications, features, functions, hardware, software, operating procedures and controls as they relate to the Department
- Must have or rapidly acquire a comprehensive knowledge of the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders including disability accommodation and accessibility requirements pertaining to passengers and employees
