Position Overview:

Food Banks Alberta is seeking a Manager, Community Engagement and Development to strengthen fund development, donor and partner stewardship, external communications, and volunteer engagement. Working closely with the Executive Director, this role supports fundraising campaigns, special events, digital communications, stakeholder engagement, and partnership opportunities that advance Food Banks Alberta’s mission across the province.

Key Responsibilities

Fund Development

· Develop and implement fundraising strategies, campaigns, events, and initiatives aligned with organizational priorities and revenue goals.

· Identify, cultivate, and steward funding relationships with individual donors, foundations, corporations, government agencies, sponsors, and community partners.

· Manage donor engagement plans and support accurate tracking, recognition, reporting, and stewardship of funding relationships.

Stakeholder Relations and Engagement

· Build and maintain positive relationships with donors, funders, supporters, member food banks, volunteers, and community stakeholders.

· Plan recognition, stewardship, presentations, networking, and engagement opportunities that enhance FBA’s visibility, reputation, and long-term support.

Program Administration





· Provide reporting and information to the Executive Director as requested.

· Support revenue development budgets, fundraising performance tracking, stakeholder database maintenance, and evaluation of campaigns and engagement strategies.

Marketing and Communications

· Develop communication and marketing materials that engage donors, sponsors, stakeholders, and the broader community.

· Share stories that inspire support for Food Banks Alberta and its member food banks.

· Ensure communications are brand compliant, skilled, timely, accurate, and appropriate for the audience.

· Promote FBA’s purpose, needs, and impact through social media, print materials, digital content, messaging, and events, including content creation tools such as Canva.

Budget and Financial Management

· Contribute to annual budgeting and monitor fundraising expenses, revenue projections, donor database reporting, and performance against budget goals.

· Maintain knowledge of applicable CRA fundraising guidelines.

Volunteer Management

· Recruit, orient, schedule, support, and manage FBA volunteers.

· Develop volunteer engagement opportunities for organizations, businesses, and community partners that help share FBA’s message and impact.

Requirements

· Post-secondary education in nonprofit management, fund development, communications, business or public administration, community development, human services, or a related field, plus five years of related experience. Equivalent combinations will be considered.

· Experience in fundraising, donor stewardship, communications, stakeholder engagement, event support, volunteer coordination, and database or reporting systems is an asset.

· Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends.

· Valid driver’s licence, access to a reliable vehicle, and ability to travel for meetings with partners and stakeholders across Alberta.

· RCMP security clearance check required.
