Position Overview
Reporting to the Chief Revenue Officer, the Manager of Direct Mail and Telemarketing Fundraising is responsible for overseeing CWF’s direct mail and telemarketing fundraising program. This position’s primary objective is to effectively communicate CWF’s mission to its constituents to raising funds and garner financial support for the organization’s conservation goals. The Manager of Direct Mail and Telemarketing Fundraising collaborates with various internal and external stakeholders to enhance direct mail and telemarketing initiatives, identify new revenue streams, and implement innovative solutions to increase revenue growth and support organizational success.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Management (Direct Mail and Telemarketing Fundraising):
- Manages and executes CWF’s direct mail and telemarketing fundraising program, ensuring all activities align with program goals and objectives.
- Defines work plans, strategies, and positioning for direct mail activities in collaboration with the CRO and other internal staff.
- Creates and manages the budget for direct mail, ensuring effective resource allocation and compliance with financial policies.
- Contributes to the development of target revenue goals, performance metrics, KPIs for fund development activities.
- Plans and oversees all direct mail campaigns and activities, including content development, critical paths, targeting instructions, matrix preparation, research, and creative requests.
- Manages and implements telemarketing initiatives, including preparing targeting scripts and reviewing weekly reports.
- Develops content, letters, and inserts for direct mail and telemarketing activities.
- Prepares telemarketing targets, scripts, and reports.
- Regularly engages with external vendors to submit order requests for lettershop, printing, and design work and review and approve design proofs.
Program Performance & Development:
- Reports on the performance and impact of CWF’s direct mail program to make informed recommendations for improvement.
- Identifies new revenue streams using innovative tactics, new technologies, and advancements in direct mail fundraising.
- Researches, identifies, pursues, and secures new fundraising opportunities.
- Keeps track of the Adopt Program, including inventory and invoicing.
- Assists with other fundraising tasks as required.
Staff Supervision:
- Leads and manages the direct mail and telemarketing team, providing regular guidance, coaching, and mentorship.
- Manages performance evaluations, training, and hiring needs.
- Inspires and motivates team members to foster a positive work environment and achieve departmental goals.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Marketing, Business, Communications, or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of related experience in direct response fundraising.
Skills and Attributes:
- Ability to use a considerable amount of judgement is needed.
- Always maintain confidentiality.
- Exceptional analytical and strategic thinking abilities.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills (English required, French would be an asset).
- Excellent people manager who fosters a collaborative and respectful environment.

Work Conditions
- Indeterminate, full-time at 37.5 hours per week. Overtime as required.
- Location: Head Office in Ottawa, ON with hybrid flexibility to work from home two consecutive days per week.
- Hiring salary can range from $85,299 to $106,624 per year and is dependent on candidate qualifications and internal equity.
- Manual dexterity required to operate computer and peripherals.
- Usually works independently.
