As Manager, Land Development & Municipal Engineering , you’ll lead a high-performing team delivering municipal engineering programs across Sudbury and surrounding areas — balancing technical excellence, business growth, and people leadership.
Reporting to the Discipline Director , you’ll provide technical, management, and financial leadership while strengthening client partnerships and creating opportunities through proposal development and business development. Lead a multidisciplinary municipal engineering team (professionals, technicians, and support staff) to deliver high-quality land development and municipal infrastructure projects.
Drive project excellence by overseeing scope, schedule, budget, quality, and client service across multiple concurrent assignments. Strengthen trusted client relationships and represent the practice in key stakeholder discussions, negotiations, and project pursuits. Deliver complex municipal designs—roads, active transportation facilities, water and wastewater conveyance systems, and public spaces—supporting sustainable community development.
Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, standards, and guidelines, coordinating with stakeholders and multidisciplinary partners through design and construction. Mentor and coach emerging professionals, building capability, confidence, and a culture of accountability and collaboration. Champion effective resource planning and utilization,
enabling balanced workloads and delivery performance across offices.
Eng. registration in Ontario with a University degree in Civil Engineering . ~15+ years leading preliminary and detailed design and project delivery for Ontario municipalities (e.g., 5+ years of proven people leadership, including mentoring, performance management, and building strong technical teams. ~ Demonstrated ability to manage financial performance (revenue, profitability, invoicing, accounts receivable, and key metrics). ~ Strong experience guiding teams to consistent use of project management tools , ensuring disciplined delivery and transparent reporting. ~ Proven capability in business development , including proposal leadership, client engagement, and pipeline growth. ~ Ability to communicate clearly and influence effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders in a fast-paced, multi-project environment. ~ Consulting experience is considered an asset, paired with a practical, solutions-focused leadership mindset. $133,200 - $176,900 The final salary awarded for this role may vary from the above range based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
