The Prospect
We are seeking a Material Handler II to support the safe, efficient, cost-effective, and accurate handling of customer products and materials within our warehouse operations. In this role, you will help ensure the timely movement, organization, and handling of materials while maintaining a high standard of accuracy and safety.
Order Picking
- Accurately locate and pick customer products, both manually and through the use of appropriate powered equipment (e.g., forklift), from and onto pallets, trays, racks, and shelving in accordance with established procedures and safety standards.
- Count, weigh, and document the quantity of materials handled on the daily production report.
- Perform specialized order preparation activities for shipment, including stenciling, slip-sheeting, stretch wrapping, labeling, and consolidation, as required by the order specifications.
Loading & Unloading
- Load customer orders in accordance with KWE operating policies and procedures, ensuring all required documentation is completed, including Bills of Lading, Pick Reports, Trailer Audits, and Lot Verification records.
- Unload, transport, stack, and stage customer products and materials, either manually or with forklift and other powered equipment, while maintaining accurate records and reports.
Equipment Operation & Maintenance
- Assign trailers to designated dock doors and/or yard locations, secure wheels with chocks,
and follow all company policies and safety requirements.
- Conduct daily equipment inspections prior to operating forklifts and other powered equipment, make necessary adjustments in accordance with safety and maintenance guidelines, complete inspection reports at the start of each shift, and immediately report any defective equipment to the supervisor.
- Inspect and prepare trailers daily before loading by checking their condition and cleaning them when required to ensure product integrity and preservation.
- Assist with facility, building, and grounds maintenance activities to maintain a clean, organized, secure, and orderly work environment.
Reporting
- Complete operational, activity, and statistical reports as assigned by the supervisor.
- Support physical inventory counts while ensuring the security of the facility and its contents.
Miscellaneous
- Perform additional services as directed by the supervisor and/or team leader, including sanitation-related activities, assembling crates or boxes for product containment, and transferring loose materials into containers.
- Adhere to all company safety policies, procedures, and practices.
- Promptly report any unsafe conditions or activities to the supervisor and/or Human Resources.
- Provide cross-functional support within the department during peak periods, employee vacations, and unexpected absences.
- Contribute to proactive team initiatives focused on achieving departmental and organizational objectives.
- Demonstrate leadership through positive example, collaboration,
and the sharing of knowledge and skills with team members.
- Carry out any other job-related duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.
What you bring
- High school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED), along with one to three months of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Ability to read, understand, and interpret instructions, short correspondence, and memoranda.
- Ability to prepare and compose written correspondence effectively.
- Ability to communicate and present information clearly in one-on-one and small group settings with customers, clients, and employees across the organization.
- Certification and/or training in Dangerous Goods Handling, Forklift/Raymond Reach Operation, ISO Standards, WHMIS, and First Aid.
