About the Role

GTA Staffing is recruiting a Mechanical Assembler on behalf of our client, a Mississauga-based manufacturer of advanced electrical enclosures, switchgear, and medium voltage distribution systems. Operating out of a brand new $20M facility, our client is a licensed partner of Schneider Electric Canada and one of the most technically sophisticated electrical manufacturing operations in Southern Ontario.

This is a skilled, precision-focused role at the heart of the production process. The Mechanical Assembler is responsible for building and fitting the mechanical structures and hardware that house and support critical electrical systems. The work requires a steady hand, strong attention to detail, the ability to read and interpret technical drawings, and comfort with a variety of fabrication and fastening techniques.

Key Responsibilities

- Assemble electrical enclosures, panels, switchgear cabinets, and related equipment to specification, ensuring structural integrity and dimensional accuracy throughout
- Install and fit mechanical components including brackets, DIN rails, hinges, handles, lifting eyes, latches, and mounting plates per assembly drawings
- Measure, mark, drill, tap, cut, and fasten metal components using appropriate hand tools, power tools, and bench equipment
- Read, interpret, and work directly from assembly drawings, engineering blueprints, technical specifications, and work orders
- Verify dimensions and tolerances against engineering specifications before sign-off at each stage of assembly
- Inspect completed assemblies for quality, fit, alignment, and finish, identifying and flagging any non-conformances immediately
- Perform minor adjustments, rework, and corrections as directed by the engineering or quality team
- Maintain a clean, organized, and protected workstation in compliance with all site safety protocols and WHMIS requirements
- Collaborate with wiring technicians,



engineers, and quality assurance staff to ensure seamless assembly integration
- Support continuous improvement by identifying recurring fit or assembly issues and communicating them to supervisors

Requirements

- Minimum 2 years of mechanical assembly experience in a manufacturing, fabrication, or electrical enclosure environment
- Proficiency with hand tools and power tools including drills, taps, die sets, punches, files, ratchets, and torque wrenches
- Ability to read and interpret assembly drawings, engineering blueprints, and technical work instructions accurately
- Experience measuring, marking, drilling, tapping, cutting, and fastening metal components to tight tolerances
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to quality at every stage of the assembly process
- Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and performing active, hands-on work throughout a full shift
- Reliable, punctual, and comfortable working within a structured production environment
- Steel-toed safety boots and applicable PPE required

Assets — Will Be Given Priority

- Previous experience assembling electrical enclosures, switchgear, control panels, or MV distribution equipment
- Familiarity with DIN rail systems, cable management hardware, and panel layout standards
- Experience working from IEC or UL-standard engineering drawings
- WHMIS certification
- Forklift or material handling equipment certification
