Here’s where you come in

Broda is looking for a Mechanical Designer to join our team! In this role the Mechanical Designer will design recent products, and assist with improvements to existing products, and manufacturing tooling and equipment. This position also prototypes, tests, validates, troubleshoots, and performs necessary activities surrounding documentation, control, and designs. They provide product support, and technical assistance to other departments as needed.

Duties

- Operate safely in manufacturing, prototyping, and maintenance/tool shop settings
- Ensure compliance with company policies, processes, and regulatory requirements
- Support 6S, Lean Manufacturing, and continuous improvements initiatives
- Communicate and work with stakeholders to identify problems and project requirements
- Convey design requirements, solutions, and justifications to collaborating participants
- Apply knowledge, skill, and experience to solve problems and fulfill objectives
- Design, analyze, prototype, and test solutions to ensure safety, effectiveness, reliability, and manufacturability
- Perform mechanical performance analyses and calculations (static, dynamic, fatigue, etc.)




- Devise, setup, document, and perform component and validation testing
- Provide production labor with documentation and training for new or modified products
- Troubleshoot problems with products or manufacturing equipment and implement solutions
- Maintain a functional level of technical knowledge of competitive products and features
- Share knowledge and experience with other employees to improve process efficiencies
- Acquire required skills, learn company systems and processes, and share best practices
- Retrieve and communicate details from technical documents, drawings, and models
- Identify critical design features and perform incoming component and material inspections
- Create, modify, and maintain CAD (SolidWorks) part and assembly models, technically accurate and appropriately toleranced drawings, and ERP system data (MS Dynamics BC).
- Document and control changes and new releases in accordance with EC process.
- Use MS Office suite (Outlook, Excel, Word) to communicate and create documentation.
- Safely, efficiently, and skillfully use hand tools and metal fabricating equipment (e.g., mill, lathe, tube bender, drill press, bandsaw, MIG/TIG, etc.)



to produce high-quality, functionally accurate prototypes, tooling, and parts
- Collaborate and work well with all team members
- Keep Engineering Manager well informed of project status and issues
- Other tasks, duties, and responsibilities as assigned by Engineering Manager

Working Conditions This job operates in several environments including maintenance shop, manufacturing floor, and office environment. This position is exposed to a variety of conditions such as:

- Loud noise level
- Varying temperatures
- Dust, dirt, debris
- Weld fumes
- Greasy parts

Physical Requirements

- Frequent sitting, standing, and walking
- Occasional lifting (over 50lbs), bending, stooping and kneeling
- Manual dexterity

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $78,000.00-$88,000.00 per year
