Location: Beamsville, Ontario

Employment Type: Full-Time

Work Arrangement: On-site (partial WFH)

Position Overview

We are seeking a practical, technically capable Mechanical Engineer to join our engineering team in Beamsville, Ontario. The successful candidate will contribute to the design, development, prototyping, testing, and production of advanced mechanical and electromechanical systems.

This role is well suited to an engineer who enjoys working across the full product development lifecycle, from early concepts and engineering analysis through detailed CAD design, fabrication, assembly, testing, and design refinement. The Mechanical Engineer will work closely with electrical, software, systems, and manufacturing personnel to develop reliable, manufacturable solutions for technically demanding applications.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop mechanical concepts, detailed designs, assemblies, and production-ready drawings using 3D CAD tools.
- Perform engineering calculations and analyses relating to structural integrity, mechanisms, thermal performance, vibration, material selection, tolerances, and other relevant design considerations.
- Design mechanical and electromechanical assemblies, including structures, enclosures, mounting systems, mechanisms, fixtures, and interfaces.
- Apply design for manufacturing and assembly (DFMA) principles to transition designs from prototypes toward repeatable production.
- Develop engineering drawings using appropriate GD&T;, tolerancing, material, surface finish, and manufacturing specifications.
- Select materials, fasteners, bearings, adhesives, finishes, and other mechanical components based on performance and environmental requirements.
- Support rapid prototyping using machining, additive manufacturing, sheet metal fabrication, composite manufacturing, and other processes as appropriate.
- Assemble and test prototype systems and troubleshoot mechanical and electromechanical issues.
- Develop test plans, test fixtures, and experimental setups for verification and validation activities.
- Analyze test results and implement design improvements based on measured performance.
- Work with suppliers and manufacturers to obtain components, resolve manufacturing issues, and improve cost, quality, and lead time.

- Support system integration activities involving mechanical, electrical, optical, RF, sensor, propulsion, and control-system components as applicable.
- Produce technical documentation including design descriptions, calculations, drawings, bills of materials, test procedures, test reports, and engineering change documentation.
- Participate in design reviews, requirements reviews, failure investigations, and technical trade studies.
- Maintain configuration control and engineering records throughout the product development lifecycle.
- Provide hands-on engineering support during prototype builds, testing, manufacturing, and field trials.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- Strong competency with 3D CAD and mechanical design.
- Understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals including statics, dynamics, mechanics of materials, heat transfer, materials, and machine design.
- Experience producing detailed engineering drawings and working with dimensional tolerances.
- Familiarity with common manufacturing processes including CNC machining, turning, sheet metal fabrication, welding, additive manufacturing, and injection moulding.
- Ability to translate system-level requirements into practical mechanical designs.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Comfortable performing hands-on assembly, prototyping, troubleshooting, and testing.
- Ability to communicate technical information clearly through drawings, reports, calculations, and design reviews.
- Ability to manage multiple engineering activities in a fast-paced development environment.

Preferred Qualifications Experience in one or more of the following areas would be considered an asset:

- Aerospace, defence, robotics, autonomous systems, or space hardware.
- Uncrewed aerial vehicles (UAVs/UAS) or other lightweight vehicle structures.

- Electromechanical systems and mechanisms.
- Structural or thermal finite element analysis (FEA).
- Composite structures, including carbon-fibre components and sandwich/honeycomb panels.
- Environmental testing, including vibration, shock, thermal, ingress protection, or environmental qualification.
- Precision mechanical or opto-mechanical design.
- Motors, actuators, gearboxes, propulsion systems, or rotating machinery.
- Design of jigs, fixtures, and manufacturing tooling.
- Prototype-to-production transition and low-volume manufacturing.
- Engineering configuration management and product lifecycle management.
- Familiarity with relevant aerospace, defence, or space engineering standards.

Candidate Profile The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineer who is equally comfortable working at a CAD workstation and in a laboratory or workshop. You should be able to take ownership of a mechanical problem, develop and evaluate potential solutions, create a detailed design, work with suppliers or internal personnel to manufacture it, and validate the resulting hardware through testing. We value engineers who are curious, methodical, willing to learn outside their immediate specialization, and capable of working effectively in multidisciplinary teams.

What We Offer

- Opportunity to work on technically challenging engineering and product-development programs.
- Exposure to the complete engineering lifecycle from initial concept through physical hardware and testing.
- Hands-on involvement with prototype and production systems.
- Collaboration with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Opportunities to develop expertise across mechanical, aerospace, defence, robotics, and advanced technology applications.
- Competitive compensation based on qualifications and experience.

Work Location: Beamsville, Ontario. This position is primarily on-site due to the hands-on nature of mechanical design, prototyping, assembly, and testing activities. Pay: From $80,000.00 per year
