We are looking for an Engineer in Training to join our team, in our Engineering and Technical Services department at the Industrial Technology Centre.

We provide mechanical engineering services, including product testing, equipment calibration, material testing, noise and vibration analysis, and data acquisition and analysis. You will get involved right away in all of these areas, supporting the technicians and providing your knowledge and expertise to solve the problems our clients face.

Some of the main duties and responsibilities you will have include:

- Performing mechanical testing of material and product provided by clients
- Designing fixtures, test setups, and test procedures based on your experience and good engineering practices
- Obtaining data with data acquisition systems using various instruments, including load cells, string potentiometers, and sound level meters
- Operating testing equipment, recording measurements, and reporting findings to clients and co-workers
- Providing technical support to other departments in the organization, including a calibration laboratory
- Becoming familiar and competent with many ASTM, ASME, ISO, and CSA test standards
- Assisting with the maintenance of our quality system and accreditations, including being involved in internal and external audits
- Researching, developing, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives




- Operating our overhead crane, forklift, and other equipment

To do these tasks competently, we expect that you
- Have recently graduated (0 – 3 years ago) from an accredited University, majoring in Mechanical Engineering
- Have some experience in an Engineering environment, including summer internships and co-op programs
- Have a great mechanical aptitude - you understand how things fit together, like getting your hands dirty, and can rebuild components after taking them apart
- Have a good understanding and are familiar with materials science, mechanical systems, and basic electrical signal fundamentals
- Have good analytical, organizational, and problem-solving capabilities
- Are a self-starter, you show initiative, and are not content just sitting around waiting to be told what to do
- Are proficient with MS Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook

Pay: $50,000.00-$60,000.00 per year
