Mechanical Engineering AI Trainer

About The Role

We're looking for mechanical engineering experts to help train and improve cutting-edge AI models. Your technical knowledge will directly shape how AI understands and reasons through complex engineering problems — from fluid dynamics and thermodynamics to structural mechanics and FEA.

This is a unique opportunity to apply your advanced engineering expertise in a recent and impactful way, working alongside world-leading AI research teams from the comfort of your own home.

- Organization: Alignerr
- Type: Hourly Contract
- Location: Remote
- Commitment: 10–40 hours/week

What You'll Do

- Design Complex Engineering Problems —
- Create advanced, domain-specific challenges across areas like finite element analysis (FEA), heat transfer, kinematics, thermodynamics, and material science to rigorously test AI performance
- Author Ground-Truth Solutions —
- Develop precise, step-by-step technical solutions and benchmark responses that guide the AI's learning process
- Audit AI Reasoning —
- Evaluate AI-generated outputs including CAD logic, thermodynamic proofs, and material specifications for technical accuracy, safety, and compliance with engineering standards (e.g., ASME, ISO)
- Refine Model Thinking —

- Identify logical errors in AI reasoning — such as incorrect force distributions or energy conservation violations — and deliver structured feedback that improves how the model approaches engineering problems

Who You Are

- Pursuing or holding a Master's or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related field
- Deep foundational knowledge in one or more core areas: solid mechanics, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, CAD/CAM, or manufacturing processes
- Able to communicate complex technical concepts clearly and precisely in written form
- Meticulous attention to detail when reviewing mathematical derivations, unit conversions, and physical system constraints
- No prior AI experience required — if you know engineering, we'll handle the rest

Nice to Have

- Prior experience with data annotation, data quality, or evaluation workflows
- Proficiency in engineering software such as SolidWorks, MATLAB, or ANSYS
- Experience reviewing or auditing technical documentation to engineering standards

Why Join Us

- Work on genuinely cutting-edge AI projects with top research labs and AI teams
- Fully remote and flexible — set your own schedule and work at your own pace
- Gain firsthand exposure to how advanced large language models (LLMs) are built and trained
- Freelance autonomy with the support of a collaborative, global team
- Potential for ongoing work and contract extension based on performance
