Mechanical Engineering Expert —
- AI Content Specialist
About The Role
We're looking for mechanical engineering experts to help train and improve cutting-edge AI models. Your deep technical knowledge will directly shape how AI reasons through complex engineering problems — from fluid dynamics and thermodynamics to structural mechanics and FEA.
This is a unique opportunity to sit at the intersection of engineering and artificial intelligence, contributing to some of the most advanced AI systems being built today — all on your own schedule, fully remote.
- Organization: Alignerr
- Type: Hourly Contract
- Location: Remote
- Commitment: 10–40 hours/week
What You'll Do
- Design Complex Engineering Problems —
- Craft advanced, multi-step problems across domains including FEA, heat transfer, kinematics, material science, and mechatronics to rigorously test AI reasoning.
- Author Ground-Truth Solutions —
- Develop precise, step-by-step technical solutions and benchmark responses that AI models use as a gold standard for learning.
- Audit AI Technical Reasoning —
- Evaluate AI-generated outputs — including CAD logic, thermodynamic proofs, and material specifications — for accuracy, safety, and compliance with engineering standards (e.g., ASME, ISO).
- Identify and Correct Reasoning Failures —
- Spot logical errors such as incorrect force distributions,
energy conservation violations, or flawed material assumptions, and provide structured feedback to improve AI reasoning.
Who You Are
- Holds or is pursuing a Master's or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related discipline
- Strong foundational expertise in one or more of: solid mechanics, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, CAD/CAM, or manufacturing processes
- Able to communicate complex technical concepts and physical phenomena clearly and precisely in writing
- High attention to detail — especially when reviewing mathematical derivations, unit analysis, and physical system constraints
- No prior AI experience required — your engineering knowledge is what matters
Nice to Have
- Experience with data annotation, evaluation, or quality assurance workflows
- Familiarity with engineering software such as SolidWorks, MATLAB, or ANSYS
- Exposure to standards bodies or technical documentation (ASME, ISO, ASTM)
Why Join Us
- Work on cutting-edge AI projects with leading AI research labs and teams
- Fully remote and versatile — work independently on your own schedule
- Freelance perks: autonomy, variety, and meaningful intellectual work
- Apply your engineering expertise in a novel, high-impact way
- Potential for ongoing work and contract extension
