Mechanical Engineering Expert –

- AI Content Specialist

About The Role

We're partnering with the world's leading AI research labs to build smarter, more technically rigorous AI models — and we need mechanical engineers to make it happen. As a Mechanical Engineering Expert, you'll push advanced AI systems to their limits, expose gaps in their technical reasoning, and help shape how the next generation of AI understands the physical world.

This is a rare opportunity to apply your deep engineering knowledge in a completely new way — without leaving your desk.

- Organization: Alignerr
- Type: Hourly Contract
- Location: Remote
- Commitment: 10–40 hours/week

What You'll Do

- Design Challenging Problems —
- Craft advanced mechanical engineering problems across domains including FEA (Finite Element Analysis), heat transfer, fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, kinematics, and material science to rigorously test AI performance
- Author Ground-Truth Solutions —
- Develop precise, step-by-step technical solutions and benchmark responses that AI systems use as a gold standard for learning
- Audit Technical Reasoning —
- Evaluate AI-generated outputs — including CAD logic, thermodynamic proofs, and material specifications — for accuracy, safety, and compliance with engineering standards (ASME, ISO, and others)
- Refine AI Thinking —
- Identify logical errors in AI reasoning such as incorrect force distributions, energy conservation violations, or faulty material assumptions,

and provide structured feedback to improve model quality
- Work Independently —
- Complete task-based assignments asynchronously on a schedule that works for you

Who You Are

- Holds an advanced degree (Master's pursuing or completed, or PhD) in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related field
- Strong foundational knowledge across core areas such as solid mechanics, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, CAD/CAM, or manufacturing processes
- Able to communicate highly technical concepts and complex physical phenomena clearly and concisely in writing
- High attention to detail when reviewing mathematical derivations, unit conversions, and physical system constraints
- Self-motivated and comfortable working independently on structured tasks
- No prior AI experience required

Nice to Have

- Prior experience with data annotation, data quality, or technical evaluation
- Proficiency with engineering software such as SolidWorks, MATLAB, or ANSYS
- Familiarity with AI or language model evaluation workflows

Why Join Us

- Work on genuinely cutting-edge AI projects alongside top research labs
- Fully remote and adaptable — work on your own schedule
- Freelance perks: autonomy, variety, and collaboration with a global team of experts
- Gain unique exposure to how large language models are trained and evaluated
- Contribute meaningfully to AI systems that need to understand the physical world
- Potential for ongoing work and contract extension
