Position Overview We are currently seeking experienced Mechanical Insulators to join the team at Vancouver Shipyards supporting Canada’s National Shipbuilding Strategy program. Successful candidates will perform the installation of: Hull board insulation Marine pipe insulation Aluminum and stainless-steel sheathing Thermal and acoustic insulation systems Mechanical insulation on shipboard systems and compartments Work is performed onboard naval and Coast Guard vessels under construction in a quick-paced shipbuilding environment.
Wages & Hours Wage: $33.64-$51.76 per hour + 12% Vacation Pay (based on experience and apprenticeship level)
Qualifications
- Apprentice Level 3 to Journey level
- Previous mechanical insulation experience preferred
- Shipyard or marine experience considered an asset
- Experience with hull board and pipe covering systems
- Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces
- Strong safety awareness
- CSTS / WHMIS / confined space tickets are an asset
- any level of school is required
Responsibilities
- Measure, cut, fit, and install insulation materials
- Install removable blankets, lagging, and protective sheathing
- Read ship drawings and insulation layouts
- Work safely in confined spaces and industrial environments
- Coordinate with pipefitters, welders, and other trades
- Maintain quality and production standard.
