Mechanical Technician – Flexible Packaging Manufacturing

Location: Scarborough, ON (Initial Location) → Cobourg, ON (After Relocation)

Shift: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Pay Rate: $21–$25/hour

Job Overview

We are hiring a Mechanical Technician for one of our clients in the flexible packaging manufacturing industry. The position will initially be based in Scarborough, Ontario, with the company planning to relocate its operations to Cobourg, Ontario.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting machinery maintenance and troubleshooting while also assisting production workers with day-to-day production activities when required.

Key Responsibilities

- Perform routine maintenance, inspection, and basic repairs on production machinery
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues and assist in resolving machine breakdowns
- Assist with machine setup, adjustments, changeovers, and preventive maintenance
- Monitor machinery during production and report any mechanical issues
- Replace or adjust mechanical components such as belts, rollers, bearings, chains, and other parts
- Use hand and power tools safely for maintenance and production-related tasks
- Assist production workers with machine operation and material handling when required
- Help production workers with loading, unloading, moving, and positioning materials
- Support the production team during busy periods to maintain smooth workflow
- Assist with packing, organizing, and moving finished products or materials as required




- Keep machinery, tools, workstations, and production areas clean and organized
- Follow all company safety rules and procedures
- Report equipment problems, safety concerns, and maintenance requirements to the supervisor
- Perform other maintenance and production-support duties as assigned

Requirements
- Previous experience as a Mechanical Technician, Maintenance Technician, Machine Technician, or similar role
- Experience working with industrial or manufacturing machinery is preferred
- Basic knowledge of mechanical systems, tools, and equipment
- Ability to troubleshoot and identify mechanical problems
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Reliable, punctual, and willing to learn
- Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing setting
- Flexible packaging or manufacturing experience is an asset
- Physically fit and able to perform heavy lifting and material handling
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform physical tasks throughout the shift
- Willingness and ability to work in Cobourg, ON after the company relocation

Physical Requirements

- Ability to lift and move heavy materials, rolls, equipment, and other production items as required
- Ability to assist production workers with material handling and other physical tasks
- Ability to work on or around production machinery safely
- Ability to remain active and on your feet for extended periods

Pay: $21.00-$25.00 per hour
