Belle Pulses

Duck Lake

Belle Pulses Ltd is a leading agricultural seed processor that has been in business for over 40 years. We process, split and mill field peas and export globally. We take a great deal of pride in the quality of our products and the relationships we have with our customers, producers and employees.

About the Role

Belle Pulses is looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Industrial Maintenance Technician to join our growing team in the grain processing sector.

You’ll support the production team in ensuring that Belle Pulses is producing the highest quality green and yellow pea products, ensuring customers get what they need, when they need it.

The Impact You'll Make

Your focus is to keep our Duck Lake, Sk. facility running, to support the production of high-quality ingredients for our customers. You’ll maintain and monitor operational activities, and collaborate with the rest of the team to get your job done.

What You'll Do

Working closely with production and operations staff, you will help maintain, repair, and improve the equipment used throughout the facility.

Your responsibilities will include

- Perform preventative and routine maintenance on processing and material-handling equipment.
- Troubleshoot mechanical equipment failures and determine practical repair solutions.
- Repair, replace, install, and adjust bearings, shafts, sprockets, chains, belts, pulleys, gearboxes, motors, and related components.
- Maintain grain handling equipment such as conveyors, bucket elevators, augers, drag conveyors, screening and cleaning equipment, and other processing machinery.
- Perform equipment alignment, adjustment, lubrication, and inspection.
- Assist with equipment installation, modification, fabrication, and facility improvement projects.
- Perform basic welding, cutting, grinding, and fabrication where required.
- Identify equipment that is showing signs of excessive wear or potential failure before it results in downtime.
- Respond to production equipment breakdowns and work with operators to safely return equipment to service.
- Maintain appropriate maintenance records and communicate completed work and outstanding issues.
- Assist with maintaining an inventory of commonly required maintenance parts and supplies.
- Work with outside contractors and specialized trades when required.
- Participate in facility shutdowns and scheduled maintenance activities.
- Maintain clean and organized maintenance and work areas.
- Follow lockout/tagout, confined-space, fall-protection, hot-work, and other applicable safety procedures.
- Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, safety,

efficiency, and maintainability.

What You'll Bring We are looking for someone with approximately 3–7 years of industrial mechanical maintenance experience, preferably in grain handling, agricultural processing, food processing, manufacturing, mining, or a similar industrial environment.

Ideally, you will have:

- Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) certification, apprenticeship training, or equivalent industrial maintenance experience.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on troubleshooting ability.
- Experience maintaining conveyors, bearings, gearboxes, motors, chains, belts, shafts, and rotating equipment.
- Ability to diagnose mechanical problems rather than simply replace parts.
- Basic welding and fabrication skills.
- Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and maintenance equipment.
- Ability to read basic equipment manuals, diagrams, drawings, and manufacturer specifications.
- Basic understanding of preventative maintenance practices.
- Good organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while also working effectively with production employees and supervisors.
- A practical, common-sense approach to maintenance and problem solving.

Experience with grain elevators, grain processing, agricultural equipment, pneumatic systems, dust collection systems, or bulk material handling equipment would be a strong asset. Basic electrical troubleshooting knowledge would also be an asset, provided work is performed within applicable regulatory and certification requirements.

The Person Who Will Succeed Here

This position will be a good fit for someone who:

- Likes figuring out why equipment isn't working.
- Takes pride in making a repair properly rather than applying a temporary fix.
- Notices mechanical problems before they become major breakdowns.
- Is comfortable getting their hands dirty and working around industrial equipment.
- Understands that preventative maintenance is just as important as emergency repairs.
- Can prioritize when several maintenance issues happen at the same time.
- Communicates well with equipment operators and listens to what they are seeing and hearing.

- Works safely without needing someone constantly looking over their shoulder.
- Is dependable and understands the importance of keeping a production operation running.

Working Conditions This is a hands-on industrial position in an operating grain processing facility.

The successful candidate should be comfortable:

- Working indoors and outdoors throughout the year.
- Working around grain dust, noise, machinery, and agricultural products.
- Climbing stairs and ladders and working at heights where required.
- Bending, kneeling, lifting, and working in physically demanding positions.
- Working around conveyors, elevators, processing equipment, and other industrial machinery.
- Wearing required personal protective equipment.
- Occasionally responding to maintenance problems outside normal working hours when operationally necessary.

Qualifications

Preferred:

- Journeyperson Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) certification or recognized apprenticeship training.
- 3–7 years of industrial maintenance experience.
- Experience in grain handling, agricultural processing, food processing, manufacturing, or a related industry.
- Welding and fabrication experience.
- Experience with preventative maintenance programs.

Candidates with significant relevant industrial maintenance experience who do not currently hold a Millwright ticket are also encouraged to apply. Why Join Us?

This is an opportunity to become an important part of a smaller industrial operation where your work has a visible impact.

Rather than being one maintenance employee among dozens, you will have the chance to understand the entire facility, work directly with operations, solve a wide variety of mechanical problems, and contribute ideas for improving equipment and processes.

We are looking for someone who wants steady, practical, hands-on work and the opportunity to take ownership of equipment reliability.

Compensation: Competitive and based on experience, qualifications, and certification.

Qualified candidates are invited to submit a resume outlining their industrial maintenance, mechanical, millwright, agricultural, or related experience.

Pay: $30.00-$40.00 per hour
