We are seeking a skilled and dependable Millwright / Maintenance Technician to support the maintenance and protected operation of production equipment and facility systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, installing, and performing preventive maintenance on mechanical equipment to minimize downtime and ensure efficient production.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on production machinery and equipment.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and basic electrical issues.
- Repair, replace, align, and install components such as motors, pumps, bearings, gearboxes, conveyors, belts, chains, and shafts.
- Perform equipment installations, modifications, adjustments, and changeovers as required.
- Read and interpret equipment manuals, mechanical drawings, schematics, and blueprints.
- Inspect machinery regularly to identify potential issues before equipment failure occurs.
- Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and minimize production downtime.
- Perform welding, fabrication, fitting, and machining tasks when required.
- Lubricate, adjust, and maintain machinery according to preventive maintenance schedules.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance activities, parts used, and equipment conditions.
- Work closely with production supervisors and operators to identify and resolve equipment-related concerns.
- Ensure all maintenance work complies with company safety procedures and applicable regulations.
- Follow lockout/tagout (LOTO) and other established safety procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and protected work area.
- Assist with continuous improvement initiatives to improve equipment reliability and production efficiency.
- Perform other maintenance-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Previous experience as a Millwright, Industrial Maintenance Technician, or similar maintenance role in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Experience working with conveyors, motors, pumps, gearboxes, bearings, and other industrial equipment.
- Ability to use hand tools, power tools, measuring equipment, and maintenance tools safely.
- Ability to read mechanical drawings, schematics, and equipment manuals.
- Basic electrical troubleshooting knowledge is considered an asset.
- Welding and fabrication experience is an asset.
- Industrial Mechanic Millwright (433A) licence is preferred where applicable.
- Strong attention to safety, quality, and detail.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a maintenance team.
- Ability to work shifts, overtime, weekends, or respond to emergency breakdowns when required.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to bend, kneel, climb, and work in various positions.
- Ability to lift and move equipment, tools, and materials as required.
- Comfortable working in an industrial/manufacturing environment and around operating machinery.
Preferred Candidate
The ideal candidate is a hands-on maintenance professional with strong mechanical troubleshooting skills who can quickly diagnose equipment issues, complete repairs safely, and help reduce production downtime.
