About Us
At Vorsprung, we're passionate about delivering high-performance mountain biking products to riders who demand the best. As specialists in mountain bike suspension systems, we provide top-tier assembly, testing, and tuning to ensure that every rider has the best possible experience on the trails. Vorsprung is looking for an Assembly & Shipping Technician to help build our world-class mountain bike suspension products. We're located in the Dallas area of Kamloops.
This is an entry-level position and does not require prior experience with suspension, however it certainly helps. The more experienced, competent and productive you are, the more you'll be paid.
What the job involves:
- Mechanical assembly of small parts
- Following quality control processes and checklists
- Basic inventory management - don't be intimidated by this, it's a very simple process you'll pick up in under 30 minutes.
- Use of technical tools such as torque wrenches
- Using our online software suite to assist with production & tuning of shocks for our customers
- Assembling and shipping orders to customers around the world
- Working closely with others, including machinists, engineers and other technicians, to ensure that our output is of the highest quality
- Communicating with customers regarding their orders & answering basic technical questions. Answering the phone and emails, in other words.
- Continuous improvement of processes & products. This is a company-wide responsibility that everybody shares.
- Keeping the workspace organized and clean
Things we do NOT do:
- We don't work significant overtime, weekends or on holidays - we typically work 35-40hrs/week, Monday to Friday.
- We don't have rigid hours - once you're autonomous, we can be fairly flexible with your schedule and time off provided you're getting your work done.
- We don't BS our employees, colleagues or our customers. We communicate straightforwardly and professionally.
What we need from you in terms of experience & qualifications:
- Fluent in English, fully literate and numerate. Most of our communications are technical in nature and must be understood precisely.
- Proficient with the use of hand tools. Being able to correctly use a torque wrench is 100% mandatory. It takes about 3 minutes to learn (there's tutorials on YouTube), and we're happy to show you the right and wrong ways, but this one is critical in this job.
- Able to follow instructions precisely and consistently
- Able to perform tasks strictly to the requirements without cutting corners. The requirements aren't difficult to meet, but they must always be met.
- Basic computer literacy - familiarity with Google Suite is a good start.
- Mechanically-minded and willing to learn. You don't need to be an engineer by any stretch, but if you can visualize "this piston pushes on that oil, so that oil will move through this tiny hole" you're doing ok.
- Capable of basic arithmetic. Nothing too crazy - but you should know what 6x6 is.
- Able to take some degree of initiative to find solutions when problems occur. Easy options - search the company's Google Drive, ask Google, ask an AI, ask a coworker or phone a company for technical support when something goes wrong. We expect you to be able to chase down information & find solutions like an adult.
- Familiarity with mountain bikes and suspension is a strong asset.
- No suspension servicing experience is required, but it is helpful.
- No suspension technical knowledge is required, but it is helpful.
- Familiarity with Lean manufacturing and Kaizen/continuous improvement are an asset, but certainly not a prerequisite. 15 minutes on Google or ChatGPT will give you a valuable idea of what they're about, and we'll train you here.
