Nurse Practitioner – Primary Care & Women’s Midlife/Menopause Health

We are seeking an experienced, thoughtful and highly motivated Nurse Practitioner to join a physician-led primary care and women’s health practice in Toronto.
This is a unique opportunity for an NP who enjoys comprehensive primary care and has a particular interest in women’s health, perimenopause and menopause medicine.
The successful candidate will work collaboratively with an experienced family physician and menopause practitioner, initially supporting both established primary-care patients and patients attending our growing midlife and menopause program.
Over time, there will be an opportunity to take on an increasingly significant role within the menopause clinic and contribute to the development of an creative, evidence-based model of care for women in midlife.
The Role
Clinical responsibilities will include
- Assessing and managing acute and chronic primary-care concerns
- Preventive health and health-promotion visits
- Reviewing laboratory investigations, imaging and specialist reports
- Medication management and prescription renewals
- Women’s health assessment and management
- Perimenopause and menopause consultations and follow-up
- Counselling regarding menopausal hormone therapy and non-hormonal treatment options
- Cardiometabolic, bone, sexual and genitourinary health assessment in midlife
- Ordering and interpreting appropriate investigations
- Patient education and shared decision-making
- Collaborating with the physician and other members of the healthcare team
- Maintaining thorough and timely clinical documentation
As the menopause program grows, the NP may also participate in:
- Development of clinical protocols and care pathways
- Creation of patient educational resources
- Quality improvement initiatives
- Program development
- Interprofessional collaboration and referral relationships
- Expanding new services for women in midlife
Who We Are Looking For The ideal candidate is clinically strong, intellectually curious and genuinely interested in developing expertise in women’s midlife health.
Required
- Current registration as a Nurse Practitioner in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Minimum 2 years of clinical practice as a Nurse Practitioner
- Strong primary-care assessment and diagnostic skills
- Excellent clinical judgment and ability to practice with a high degree of independence
- Comfortable managing chronic disease, preventive medicine and general primary-care concerns
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational and EMR skills
- Evidence-based approach to clinical practice
- Warm, professional and patient-centred communication style
Strongly preferred:
- Previous experience in women’s health, gynecology, sexual health, reproductive health, perimenopause or menopause care
- Experience prescribing or managing menopausal hormone therapy
- Additional education or certification in women’s health or menopause medicine
- Experience caring for women in midlife
- Interest in preventive medicine, cardiometabolic health, bone health and healthy aging
Formal menopause certification is an asset but not required. We are very interested in candidates who demonstrate a strong desire to learn and develop advanced expertise in menopause medicine.
