The Operations Manager provides leadership to supervisors and frontline employees, manages staffing and scheduling, conducts site inspections, communicates with clients, controls labour and supply costs, and ensures consistent service quality.
Key Responsibilities
Operations Management
- Oversee daily cleaning operations across multiple commercial sites.
- Ensure all locations are serviced according to the approved scope of work and cleaning schedules.
- Conduct regular site inspections and quality-control audits.
- Identify service deficiencies and implement corrective action.
- Coordinate periodic and specialty cleaning projects, including floor care, carpet cleaning, window cleaning, deep cleaning, and event cleaning.
- Manage special projects.
Staff Management
- Recruit, train, supervise, and support cleaning supervisors and frontline employees.
- Prepare and manage employee schedules and site coverage.
- Arrange replacement coverage for absences, vacations, and emergencies.
- Monitor employee attendance, performance, productivity, and compliance with company policies.
- Provide coaching, additional training, and corrective action when required.
- Ensure employees understand and follow their assigned scope of work
- Budget & Cost Control
- Monitor labour hours, overtime, supplies, equipment, and other operational expenses.
- Ensure staffing levels remain within approved budgets.
- Review site profitability and identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency.
- Control unnecessary overtime and supply consumption.
- Assist with preparing quotes and pricing for additional cleaning services and special projects.Health & Safety
Administration & Reporting
- Maintain employee schedules,
inspection reports, training records, and operational documentation.
- Prepare regular operational and performance reports.
- Communicate staffing changes, service issues, incidents, and client requests to senior management.
- Coordinate with payroll, human resources, health and safety, and other internal departments when required.
- Maintain accurate information regarding site requirements, employee assignments, and service frequencies.
Qualifications
- Previous management or supervisory experience in commercial cleaning, janitorial services, facilities management, or building services.
- Strong knowledge of commercial cleaning procedures, equipment, chemicals, and floor-care practices.
- Experience managing multiple locations and large cleaning teams.
- Strong leadership and employee-management skills.
- Excellent communication and client-service abilities.
- Strong organizational, scheduling, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage budgets, labour hours, and operational costs.
- Knowledge of WHMIS and occupational health and safety requirements.
- Ability to work independently and respond effectively to operational emergencies.
- Valid driver’s licence and ability to travel between client locations may be required.
Working Conditions This is an operational management position requiring regular travel between client sites. The Cleaning Operations Manager may be required to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays, depending on client requirements, emergencies, special projects, and employee coverage needs.
Pay: From $22.00 per hour
