Position Summary The Operations Specialist – Procurement & Store Standardization is responsible for developing, documenting, standardizing, and continuously improving operational procedures related to procurement and store operations across the organization.
This position will work closely with the Procurement team, Store Managers, and other operational stakeholders to understand current processes, identify inconsistencies and inefficiencies, and develop explicit and practical Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
The successful candidate will be highly organized, analytical, and an excellent technical writer, with the ability to translate day-to-day procurement and store activities into clear, consistent, and easy-to-follow procedures.
The position will also support the implementation of standardized processes across locations and will require travel to company stores several times throughout the year.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, write, update, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for purchasing and store operations.
- Document procurement workflows, processes, and best practices.
- Review existing processes and identify gaps, inconsistencies, and opportunities for improvement.
- Standardize procurement and store operating procedures across multiple locations.
- Work with Procurement teams and Store Managers to understand current practices and develop practical procedures.
- Create process guides, checklists, workflows, and other operational documentation.
- Conduct store visits to observe processes and identify opportunities for standardization.
- Support the implementation of new and revised SOPs across stores.
- Gather feedback from store teams and incorporate improvements into procedures.
- Assist with process mapping and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Identify inefficiencies, duplication, or unnecessary steps within operational processes.
- Maintain accurate documentation and version control for SOPs.
- Support procurement and store operations projects as assigned.
- Travel to company locations several times throughout the year.
- Support the planning, coordination, and successful rollout of new programs, new store opening, store remodels, merchandising initiatives, store relines and other operational projects.
- Assist in the preparation and coordination of monthly conference calls, working with Store Managers and presenters to ensure effective communication and delivery of key information.
Store Visits & Travel
- Travel to company store locations several times throughout the year.
- Observe procurement and store processes in real operating environments.
- Meet with Store Managers, Procurement team, and other operational stakeholders to gather process information.
- Document current practices and identify opportunities for standardization.
- Support implementation and follow-up of new or revised procedures.
- Report findings and recommendations to management.
Qualifications & Experience
- Post-secondary education in Business Administration, Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, Purchasing, Retail Management, or a related field is an asset.
- 2–4 years of experience in purchasing, retail operations, supply chain, process improvement, or a related field.
- Experience creating and maintaining SOPs, process documentation, workflows, or operational manuals.
- Experience in purchasing, inventory, retail, or multi-location store operations.
- Strong understanding of operational processes and workflow documentation.
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel.
- Experience with ERP, purchasing, inventory management, or project-management systems is an asset.
- Previous experience working with multiple store locations is an asset.
- Ability and willingness to travel several times throughout the year.
