Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Operator role for 4th or 5th Class Power Engineers located in Fort St John, BC. The Operator will monitor, operate, and adjust plant equipment and systems to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant facility operations. Daily tasks include performing routine inspections, recording operating data, identifying equipment abnormalities, and communicating issues to maintenance or supervision.
The role involves following standard operating procedures, supporting start-up and shutdown activities, and assisting with minor troubleshooting to maintain optimal performance. The Operator will adhere to all safety and environmental regulations, participate in safety meetings and training,
and collaborate with team members to maintain a clean and orderly work area.
Qualifications
- Valid 4th or 5th Class Power Engineer certificate in good standing.
- Experience in operating industrial or processing plant equipment, preferably in environmental services, oil and gas, or related industries.
- Strong understanding of safety practices, hazard identification, and regulatory compliance in a plant or field environment.
- Ability to read and interpret gauges, process flow diagrams, and operating procedures, and accurately record data.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to assist with routine equipment checks and minor troubleshooting.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to follow instructions and work collaboratively across shifts.
- Comfort working in outdoor and industrial environments, including varying weather conditions and physical tasks such as climbing, lifting, and standing for extended periods.
- Reliable, detail-oriented, and able to work a consistent full-time schedule, including potential evenings, weekends, or shift work as required.
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training in power engineering or industrial operations is an asset.
- Previous experience in Fort St John, BC or familiarity with regional industrial operations is beneficial.
