Role Summary The Outreach, Semi-Independent Living (SIL) and Events Leader is responsible for designing and delivering community outreach programs that connect people with developmental disabilities to the broader community; including neighbours, seniors, and other community members, while also coordinating Semi-Independent Living (SIL) support and organizing internal and external events. This role focuses on building inclusive community life through outings, life skills development, employment support, and social connection, rather than residential health-based care.

Key Responsibilities

Outreach Programs

- Design, launch, and operate outreach programs that bring together people with developmental disabilities and community members such as neighbours and seniors
- Develop recent after-hours drop-in programs to expand community access and engagement
- Build and maintain relationships with community partners, neighbourhood groups, and local organizations to support outreach goals

Semi-Independent Living (SIL) Support

- Coordinate SIL programming focused on outings, life skills development, Relationship building and employment search support
- Supervise the SIL Assistant, providing direction, scheduling, and support for day-to-day SIL activities
- Support individuals in building independence and community connections through SIL activities, in coordination with the SIL Assistant




- Monitor SIL participants' engagement and progress, and adjust programming as needed

Events

- Plan, organize, and run internal events (community gatherings, celebrations) and external events (public outreach events, partner events)
- Coordinate logistics, volunteers, and communications for events in collaboration with other departments (e.g., Philanthropy & Communications)

Qualifications

- Post-secondary degree or diploma in a related human service, social service, community development, recreation, or related field is preferred
- Experience working with people with developmental disabilities and/or community outreach program design
- Strong event planning and project coordination skills
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills across diverse community groups
- Proficient in administrative and computer skills such as MS Office.
- BC Class 5 Driver's license
- Valid Standard First Aid & CPR

Job Type: Full-time Pay: $58,000.00-$75,000.00 per year

Experience:
- working with persons with developmental disabilities: 2 years (required)
- working in adult day program: 2 years (required)
- Senior Leadership: 2 years (preferred)

Licence/Certification:
- Class 5 BC Driver Licence (required)

Work Location: In person
