Seasonal Employee – Parks Labourer The Corporation of the Town of Tecumseh is currently recruiting for a highly motivated individual to fill the position of Seasonal Employee – Parks Labourer, in the Community & Recreation Services Department.
Job Summary
Reporting to the Manager Parks & Horticulture, the Seasonal Employee – Parks Labourer is a member of the Community & Recreation Services Department. In a team environment, the Seasonal Employee – Parks Labourer, will perform a variety of duties relating to the maintenance and upkeep of all municipal parks and open spaces including the maintenance of sports turf, tree and plant inventories, with a focus on quality customer service and continuous improvement processes.
Qualifications and Requirements The successful candidate must possess:
- A minimum Grade 12 secondary school diploma with preference given to individuals with a college diploma in Turf Management and/or Horticulture or Agricultural field.
- Candidates must have mechanical aptitude, with a minimum of three (3)
years field experience and the ability to operate parks-related equipment and general knowledge of related safety procedures.
- The successful candidate must have a valid “G” license and preference to candidates with a valid “D” driver’s license with “Z” endorsement with previous experience driving a truck with attached trailer.
- The preferred candidate will have the ability to meet deadlines and work under minimal supervision, and have a genuine ability to work in a team setting in addition to experience in the maintenance of sports fields, passive areas, playground areas and grounds.
- Previous knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety Act, Highway Traffic Act, and associated regulations will be considered assets.
The successful candidates must be available to work forty (40) hours each week Sunday through Saturday between the months of March and December annually. The regular hours of work are between 7:00 am and 3:00 pm. On occasion Seasonal Employees may be required to work outside of their regular hours of work.
