Job Summary & Key Responsibilities The part-time academic will be a lab instructor for BIOL 2020: Cell Biology during the 2026/27 Winter Term.

This course is an introduction to the eukaryotic cell. Major cell components and activities are described at ultrastructural and molecular levels with emphasis on mammalian systems. The concept of the cell as an integrated structural, functional unit is developed.

The candidate will work closely with the course coordinator and be responsible for:

- Delivery of 12 hr in-lab teaching per week; specifically:
- Tuesday labs (one lab runs 10:00-1:00 pm and a second lab from 2:30-5:30 pm)
- Thursday labs (one lab runs 10:00-1:00 pm, and a second lab from 2:30-5:30 pm)
- Attendance at the bi-weekly TA meetings on Friday mornings.
- Attendance at the four exam sessions; three in class from 8:30-9:30 am and one during the exam period.

During each laboratory session, the candidate will work with and supervise two Teaching Assistants. The candidate is not responsible for any course coordination, or course development.

Due to operational requirements, the successful applicant is required to work in-person on campus. The position reports to the Chair of the Department.

Qualifications/Requirements Of Position

- The applicants will have an advanced degree in biology and previous, recent laboratory teaching experience in the related discipline.
