Be a catalyst for change as a Youth Peer Support Worker, providing vital support to ages 13-24 in Fraser Health. Leverage your personal experience to empower youth through recovery-oriented initiatives. In this dynamic role, you will engage with youth in both one-on-one and group settings, facilitating workshops and navigating community resources.
Your focus will be on building supportive relationships, enhancing self-advocacy, and promoting well-being. Working collaboratively within teams, you'll maintain a trauma-informed approach throughout all interactions while ensuring ethical peer support practices. Key Responsibilities:
- Support youth with emotional encouragement and goal setting
- Facilitate group activities to enhance social connection
- Document services in compliance with standards
- Assist in problem-solving and navigating services
- Identify critical incidents promptly Requirements:
- Diploma in human or social services field
- One year of peer support experience
- Lived experience with mental health or substance use
- Criminal Record Check and valid Driver’s License required
