Peer Supporter
Peer support is a vital component of the recovery journey for people facing challenges. It offers empathy, validation, and hope from those with lived and living experience of their own, complementing other methods, services and treatments and supports the journey to recovery and wellness.
Peer Supporters are people with Lived and Living Experience facing mental health and / or substance use challenges who can provide a unique perspective and valuable support. This role requires a person who has dealt with challenges and is willing and able to discuss them from a position of recovery.

Position Details
Hours: 20 hours per week Location: 351 Main St., Winkler
Wage: $22.00 per hour Term: Permanent position
Requirements: This position is a mobile position and requires meeting people in the community. The position requires a person with a valid driver’s license and access to a reliable automobile. This position includes weekend day shifts with its regular schedule.
Position Duties
- Provide Peer Support to individuals who are accessing service within a specific program area.
- Draw from lived experience and peer support training to provide non-clinical and non-directive support to those seeking service.
- Operate within the values, competencies, and the Code of Conduct that directs peer support work within PCM.
- Collaboratively document with the person seeking support.
- Facilitate peer support groups as needed.
- Attend professional development opportunities monthly.
