Part-Time Pharmacist

West Elgin Pharmacy | West Lorne, Ontario

West Elgin Pharmacy is looking for a Part-Time Pharmacist to join our team in West Lorne, Ontario, located between London and Chatham.

We are a rural community pharmacy under the PharmaChoice banner, but what makes us different is our independent, patient-focused approach. We have built strong relationships with our patients and local prescribers, and our pharmacists play an important role in providing accessible healthcare to our community.

Our pharmacy recently relocated to a brand-new, modern facility designed to provide a spacious and dynamic environment for both patients and staff.

We believe in giving pharmacists the opportunity to practice to their full scope without the pressure of corporate quotas or performance metrics. Our pharmacists provide a wide range of clinical services, and we encourage team members to bring forward ideas and develop services that can benefit our patients and community.

The Role The successful candidate will participate in a combination of dispensing and clinical activities, including:

- Prescription processing, dispensing, and final verification
- Patient counselling and medication education
- Identifying and managing drug therapy problems
- Minor ailment assessment and prescribing

- Medication reviews
- Pharmaceutical opinions
- Prescription extensions
- Vaccinations and injections
- Over-the-counter recommendations
- Clinical review of blister and compliance packs

- Opioid use disorder treatment (OUDT)
- Communicating and collaborating with local prescribers
- Participating in medication management and other patient care services
- Contributing to other activities within the pharmacist's scope of practice

We also provide a variety of services to improve access to care in our community. Through our partnership with MedEssist's Access to Care program, we support patients with assessment and treatment for conditions such as emergency contraception, constipation, athlete's foot, and other minor ailments.

- A strong communicator who enjoys building relationships with patients and healthcare providers
- Self-motivated, adaptable, and eager to learn
- Interested in making a meaningful contribution to a rural community

Qualifications

- BScPhm or PharmD from an accredited Canadian university
- Registered as a Part A Pharmacist with the Ontario College of Pharmacists
- Injection trained and certified
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong clinical reasoning and problem-solving skills
- Kroll experience is an asset
- OUDT training is an asset, or willingness to complete training after onboarding
- CPR and First Aid certification

Hours Our regular pharmacy hours are:

Monday to Friday: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM

Saturday: 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM

Part-time hours and scheduling can be discussed with the successful candidate. Some weekend availability will be expected.
