St. Paul’s College, located on the Fort Garry Campus of the University of Manitoba, is the only Catholic institution of higher education in Manitoba. Founded in 1926 and affiliated with the University since 1931, the College has been entrusted to the Jesuit Fathers since 1933.

Position Summary
Reporting to the Community Development Office, the Philanthropy Officer (Part-Time) is an ideal position for an individual who is seeking meaningful part-time work and who will shape the future of St. Paul’s College as it embarks on its next 100 years at the University of Manitoba.
The successful candidate will build meaningful relationships with our donors, alumni, and friends and will be responsible for advancing the College’s fundraising priorities through the development of these relationships, alongside the professional solicitation and stewardship of major and planned gifts.
This role manages a defined portfolio of donors and prospects and contributes to both immediate philanthropic revenue and long-term legacy giving growth. The position requires strong relationship management, strategic planning, and communication skills, as well as discretion and professionalism in working with donors and advisors.
Fundraising outcomes, albeit set annually,
will initially be measured against a KPI index of additional contributed capital and documented planned gift value of $300,000.
From time to time this position may provide fundraising support for special College events.
Key Responsibilities
Portfolio and Donor Management
- Manage a portfolio of 30–80 donors and prospects, including individuals capable of making major and legacy gifts.
- Conduct 2–4 donor meetings per week, both in person and virtually.
- Develop and implement individualized donor engagement plans, including relationship development, solicitation, and stewardship strategies.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all donor activity in the College’s donor base.
Fundraising Strategy and Execution
- With the Community Development team develop and implement a major and planned gift strategy aligned with institutional priorities.
- Identify, research, and qualify prospective donors to the donor base in support of institutional priorities.
- Independently manage all stages of the fundraising cycle, including:
- Donor identification and engagement
- Strategic solicitation of gifts
- Stewardship, retention, and donor recognition
- Engage senior leadership, volunteers, and advisors in donor strategies and solicitations where appropriate
- Support the design and delivery of donor education initiatives and legacy giving events
Communications and Reporting
- Prepare compelling proposals, cases for support, and grant applications
- Develop donor impact reports, stewardship communications, and recognition materials
- Collaborate with the Community Development team to align messaging and donor engagement strategies
Relationship Management and Representation
- Build and sustain long-term relationships with high-capacity donors.
- Represent St. Paul’s College at events, meetings, and in the broader community.
- Serve as an ambassador for the College’s mission, values, and priorities.
- Uphold ethical fundraising standards.

- Perform other related duties in support of the Community Development Office as assigned
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Post-secondary education in a relevant field (e.g., fundraising, communications, business, nonprofit management).
- Minimum 3–5 years of progressive experience in major gifts, planned giving, or relationship-based fundraising (or equivalent experience in sales, business development, or advancement).
- Demonstrated track record of building donor relationships and securing philanthropic support.
Knowledge and Skills
- Strong ability to build trust and relationships with high-net-worth individuals and stakeholders.
- Working knowledge of major gift fundraising, donor lifecycle, and moves management practices.
- Familiarity with planned giving principles and estate giving vehicles.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft persuasive proposals and donor communications.
- Strategic thinking and ability to manage a donor portfolio with measurable outcomes.
- Proficiency with donor databases and reporting tools.
- High level of discretion, professionalism, and ethical judgment in handling confidential donor information.
- Engagement with qualified fundraising associations (e.g., AFP, CAGP) considered an asset.
Working Conditions
- Part-time role with flexible scheduling.
- Regular local travel is required for donor meetings and events.
- Occasional evening and weekend work required.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a small team environment.
Compensation and Benefits
- Annual salary: $25000.00-35000.00 (part-time equivalent)
