Reporting to the Director, Demand Management, the Line Logistics / Planning Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of logistics and planning within the manufacturing operations. This includes planning for production, ensuring asset availability, managing workflows, and ensuring productive coordination across departments to meet production targets and deadlines.
This role is integral to ensure smooth and efficient manufacturing processes, with a focus on delivering high-quality results while maintaining continuous improvement.
Duties Accountabilities
- Develop and implement strategies to align production and planning goals with company objectives. Collaborate with other departments to identify opportunities and ensure the timely delivery of products.
- Create and maintain a master schedule for all manufacturing and production activities, ensuring resource allocation aligns with company needs and production goals.
- Coordinate and oversee the planning of company-owned assets and ensure their readiness to support production.
- Manage the planning function to create clear, detailed work packages that support production teams and drive work package execution efficiently.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to identify and mitigate potential risks in production planning, offering solutions before and during production activities.
- Provide support to engineering during the development of new modifications and production planning.
- Maintain and manage the ERP work orders architecture, ensuring that it supports the needs of all company stakeholders, including production and supply chain teams.
- Collaborate with supply chain and procurement teams to ensure proper materials and parts are available for production activities, identifying strategies to avoid part shortages.
- Lead and manage a team to ensure they are properly supported in terms of technical development, workload management, and career growth.
- Mentor and guide team members to support their development,
contributing to performance reviews and career progression discussions.
- Manage resource coordination and workload distribution for projects, ensuring the right staffing levels are in place, including the use of contractors where necessary.
- Monitor planning operations and ensure that all functions are being executed effectively, using metrics to measure performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, while identifying and implementing process improvements to streamline planning operations.
- Develop and maintain a consistent and efficient framework for planning functions, promoting a culture that enables teams to perform at their best.
- Identify performance issues within the planning department and collaborate with stakeholders to implement improvement plans.
Education Required
- AME Transport Canada License, Aviation related Degree or Engineering Degree.
Experience, skills, attitude
Required
- Minimum ten (10) years’ experience in manufacturing line logistics / planning.
- Minimum five (5) years’ management and or leadership experience in the Manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Project within a Windows environment.
- Must have experience using MRP / ERP systems.
- Ability to foster a sense of teamwork and excellence in the workplace.
- Able to demonstrate leadership skills combined with excellent communication.
- Able to demonstrate developed interpersonal skills to work effectively with a variety of individuals from different departments and other organizations.
- Possess ethical behavior, accountability & teamwork.
- Pro-active, results-oriented and strive for continuous improvement.
- Attention to detail, responsive and adherent to deadlines; excellent time management, organization, and planning skills with a high ability to adapt to change whilst working under pressure.
- Self-starter, highly motivated and fully developed professional, able to work without direct guidance or direction from others.
- Demonstrated ability to think strategically and manage competing priorities.
- Maintains and communicates a positive attitude, exercising diplomacy, confidentiality, and good judgement.
Assets
- Master’s degree or MBA will be considered an asset.
- PMP will be considered an asset.
- Business development experience will be considered an asset.
- De Havilland aircraft (DHC8, DHC6, CL) experience will be considered an asset.
Working Conditions
- Maintain strict adherence to De Havilland Aircraft of Canada (DHC) Health & Safety Policies.
- Work in various environmental conditions, including temperature extremes, confined spaces, heights, and around chemicals.
- Must be able to climb, stand, kneel, lift (up to 50 pounds), push, pull, bend, reach, carry, walk, crawl, balance, and use stairs.
- Must be able to work shift rotations including weekends and/or night shifts, on-call or overtime as occasionally required.
- Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required for workplace safety.
- Ensure the ability to maintain a positive fit test when mask use is necessary.
