Software Developer – Infrastructure
DevOps Montreal, Canada
$150,000 + Bonus The Opportunity
This is about as close to greenfield infra work as it gets inside a firm trading billions of dollars a day. Kubernetes-native, built for zero tolerance on downtime, and still young enough that you'd be shaping it rather than inheriting someone else's mess.
Our client is one of the world's most established trading firms - three decades of trading their own capital, at their own risk, across Fixed Income, Equities, ETFs, FX, Commodities and Energy, with a growing footprint across multiple asset classes. They operate globally, with a close-knit engineering presence in Montreal that punches well above its size.
They're hiring a Software Developer to join their infrastructure team to help build the platforms, automation and tooling that keep the firm's production systems running reliably at scale.
What You'll Be Doing
- Designing and building backend services and infrastructure tooling in Python
- Developing and operating applications on a predominantly Kubernetes-based platform
- Building automation that improves how production systems are deployed, managed and monitored
- Designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and developer workflows
- Working with PostgreSQL and RabbitMQ to support distributed, message-driven systems
- Leading the migration of legacy workloads onto Kubernetes
- Driving your own initiatives and contributing directly to architecture and design decisions — not just picking up tickets
What You'll Bring
- A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience
- 3–7 years' experience building and operating production software systems
- Robust, hands-on Python development experience
- Real-world experience deploying and operating applications on Kubernetes
- Experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines
- Comfort working in Linux environments
- Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL) and message brokers (RabbitMQ)
- A self-directed, proactive approach — you drive projects forward rather than waiting to be told what's next
- Bonus: experience with observability tooling (metrics, logging, tracing, alerting)
What's On Offer
- Direct mentorship from experienced developers, DBAs and technical leads on a small, senior team
- Paid postgraduate study support, internal tech talks, and language tutoring
- 40 hours of paid volunteer time per year
- Daily catered meals, on-site wellness perks, and regular team socials
- Competitive salary, matching retirement contributions, and full home office set-up
