Plumbing Estimator / Project Manager

We’re looking for an experienced Plumbing Estimator / Project Manager to join our team in Winnipeg.

This position is focused on estimating commercial and residential plumbing work, as well as managing awarded projects from start to finish. We’re looking for someone who understands plumbing construction, has previous estimating experience, and can accurately assess labour, materials, equipment, and project requirements.

The right candidate will be comfortable working independently and with a team, managing multiple estimates and active projects, and working closely with our field team, customers, suppliers, and general contractors.

Qualifications

Applicants must have previous plumbing estimating experience and a strong understanding of the plumbing trade.

Preference will be given to candidates who have:

- Previous experience estimating commercial plumbing projects
- Plumbing trade experience; Red Seal/Journeyperson certification is a strong asset
- Experience completing material and labour takeoffs
- Ability to read and interpret plumbing drawings, specifications, and tender documents
- Strong understanding of plumbing systems, materials, installation methods, and applicable codes
- Experience obtaining supplier and subcontractor pricing
- Experience preparing quotations, budgets, and tender submissions
- Strong computer skills, including spreadsheets and estimating/project documentation
- Positive organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to manage multiple estimates and projects at the same time
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Valid driver's licence

Estimating Responsibilities
- Review drawings, specifications, addendums, and tender documents




- Complete detailed plumbing material and labour takeoffs
- Determine labour requirements and expected installation hours
- Obtain and review supplier and subcontractor quotations
- Identify project risks, exclusions, and potential cost issues
- Prepare competitive and accurate estimates
- Prepare quotations and tender submissions
- Follow up on submitted quotations and tenders
- Assist with project handoff once work is awarded
- Maintain accurate estimating records and project information

Project Management Responsibilities
- Manage awarded projects from startup through completion
- Prepare project budgets and track costs against estimates
- Coordinate manpower, materials, equipment, and subcontractors
- Work closely with plumbers, foremen, customers, general contractors, and other trades
- Review project schedules and plan manpower requirements
- Procure materials and coordinate deliveries
- Manage change orders and additional work
- Attend site and project meetings as required
- Monitor labour hours, material costs, and overall job performance
- Assist field staff with technical questions and project planning
- Maintain communication with customers throughout the project
- Identify problems early and work with the field team to keep projects on schedule and budget
- Complete project closeout documentation

What We're Looking For This role requires more than simply completing takeoffs. You need to understand labour, materials, installation methods, site conditions, and how decisions made during estimating affect the project once it reaches the field.
