SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Director of Public Security or a delegated officer, the incumbent enforces laws, regulations and Council By-Laws. They will maintain order and public security; conduct interventions to a broad range of safety issues, including incidents of domestic violence, sexual abuse, traffic violations, vehicular accidents, vandalism, thefts, other criminal activities and provincial statutes and by-laws, etc. The incumbent will actively participate in the reduction or elimination of crime that is occurring within the territorial jurisdiction of the Timiskaming First Nation Police.

- Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and policing procedures.
- Strong judgment, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to remain professional and effective under pressure.
- Strong report writing and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent interpersonal and community relations skills.
- Knowledge and awareness of First Nations communities and culture is an asset.
- Willingness to work rotating shifts, including days, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call assignments.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum 18 years of age.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Successful completion of RCMP Depot Training Academy.
- Valid driver’s license.
- English required; French is an asset.
- Good physical condition and ability to pass background and character checks.
- Must adhere to all applicable police ethics and confidentiality requirements.
- Previous policing experience is considered an asset.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Respond to emergency and non-emergency calls for service.
- Enforce laws, regulations, and Council By-Laws.
- Conduct patrols to maintain public safety and security.
- Investigate criminal activity, accidents, and complaints.
- Interview victims, witnesses, and suspects.
- Prepare reports, maintain records, and provide court testimony when required.
- Execute warrants and assist with related enforcement duties.
- Work collaboratively with partner agencies and other police services.
- Participate in community policing, crime prevention, public education, and school outreach activities.
- Attend training and maintain policing certifications and skills.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS This position requires shift work, including evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, standby, and overtime as required. The successful candidate must comply with all departmental policies, qualified standards, and applicable legislation while serving the Timiskaming First Nation community.
Job Types: Permanent, Full-time
Pay: $34.52-$48.77 per hour
