About the role:
Magnolia is looking for an experienced marketing and communications qualified to provide seamless coverage for an established client portfolio. This role combines established project and account management with hands-on public relations, branding, and communications strategy and execution.

You will lead day-to-day client relationships, translate business goals into clear workplans, coordinate cross-functional teams and keep deliverables on time, on budget and to a high standard. You will also lead strategic planning, account management and maintaining client relations. Dealing with pressure is not a concern, but you thrive on it.
The emphasis of this role is primarily on maintaining and growing client relations, ensuring client accounts are well maintained, managed and are growing.
You will lead
- You will be client facing; engage directly with clients to ensure excellent service is being provided
- Establish peer-to-peer relationships with your clients (DM, PR, Comms and/or Content)
- Ensuring clients are satisfied with Magnolia’s services and fulfillment
- Conduct and lead client meetings
- Handle and resolve all client and internal team PR and Communications queries
- Assist the strategic counsel on your accounts in developing marketing strategies/recommendations based on client conversations and business objectives, including executing on those strategies, as applicable
- Develop an effective and open line of communication for clients
- Identify account risks and opportunities
- Translate client objectives into clear PR and communications priorities, scopes, workback schedules, deliverables, responsibilities and success measures.
- Manage concurrent projects in Asana or an equivalent platform, coordinating dependencies, approvals and resources across PR, content, digital marketing, creative and leadership teams.
- Provide quality assurance before delivery and ensure work is strategic, accurate, on-brand and polished.
- Ensure client retention
- Create opportunities for strong, long-lasting relationships with clients
- Develop and execute PR and communications plans aligned with client business objectives, target audiences, messages and measurable outcomes.
- Conduct media outreach to secure opportunities for clients; including interviews, byline articles, podcast appearances, TV interviews, etc.
- Write and edit press releases, media pitches, byline articles, op-eds, award submissions, case studies, talking points, briefing notes and related communications materials.
- Identify timely media angles and thought-leadership opportunities by monitoring client sectors, competitors, news and emerging issues.
- Build targeted media lists and editorial calendars
- Create media briefing documents with detailed and insightful notes to prepare clients for interview appointments
- Track and report on performance, including quality of coverage, message pull-through, audience relevance and progress against agreed KPIs.
- Support on other PR and communications projects as needed.

About You:
- Desired Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications or related field
- At least 5 years’ experience in marketing, agency experience an asset
- Strong understanding of marketing strategies and their relation to business objectives
- Proven experience managing multiple client accounts and concurrent projects in a deadline-driven environment
- Strong B2B PR and communications experience; exposure to technology, financial services, fintech, SaaS, cleantech, manufacturing or professional services is an asset.
- Demonstrated success delivering media relations, thought-leadership and corporate communications programs.
- Exceptional writing, editing and storytelling skills, including the ability to simplify complex or technical information for different audiences
- Working knowledge of Canadian and U.S. business, technology, trade and industry media.
- Strong understanding of how PR, content and digital marketing support broader business objectives and the customer journey.

Pay: $65,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
