Prep Foreman

Five Star Paving is looking for a skilled and motivated Foreman to join one of our prep crews. The Prep foreman is the first in command under the supervision of the Superintendent and oversees the execution of work on the job sites. This is a working foreman position with a focus on fine grading.

Duties included but not limited to:

- Knowledge of operating heavy equipment (skid steers, excavators, graders, rollers)
- Ability to set grades using string lines, and lasers.
- Competent at grading road base gravel with skid steers to desired grades
- Create level surfaces, grade slopes to specifications, remove material and thoroughly fill voids using plans and/or a surveyor as guidance.
- Ability to read and comprehend site plans, including plan scaling
- Ability to problem solve and make appropriate decisions
- Direct and instruct all facets of construction including excavation, trucking, pipe laying, curb and sidewalk preparation and paving preparation




- Communicate with engineers, owners and inspectors
- Understand contract requirements versus extra work
- Attend onsite meetings during the project
- Maintaining daily paperwork such as field reports and costing.
- Must work safe, and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Capable of working independently while maintaining a good working relationship with customers, co-workers, and supervisors.
- Experience in commercial, municipal and residential construction
- Pre-Operation inspection (including attachments, buckets, brush-rake or breaker)
- Fueling, greasing and cleaning the machine at end of shift

Qualifications:

- Minimum Valid class 5 driver's license.
- 5 years experience as a foreman or similar.

Job Type: Full-time Pay: $38.00-$55.00 per hour
