JumpStart is hiring an Educational Assistant for our Junior Kindergarten Preschool program. Successful candidates must have current first aid, and provide a background check including the vulnerable sector. All candidates must have strong English skills, both orally and written.

This position is a part-time position to start ASAP at our Windermere location. Hours would be Monday 8:30am-4/4:30pm, Tuesdays-Fridays 8:30am-12:30pm, with the possibility of additional hours each week depending on staff coverage required for the pm, and other additional tasks as they arise.

Duties are as follows:

- Assist Teacher to plan and implement activities to meet the physical, emotional, intellectual and social needs of the children in the program
- Ensure the facility is clean, well maintained and safe at all times, following AHS policies and cleaning checklists
- Prepare classroom materials and activities
- Ensure children are supervised at all times
- Develop a positive relationship with each child and promote the development of self-esteem and self-discipline
- Provide various experiences and activities for children including songs, games and storytelling
- Comfort children
- Establish routines and provide positive guidance
- Provide a protected and secure environment for children to feel comfortable
- Clearly and effectively communicate in a manner that children understand
- Observe children and make note of progress
- Assist children with going to the bathroom




- Update our App daily with photos and messages for parents
- Maintain current, accurate and confidential client files
- Assist in following and implementing daily activity plans
- Maintain a well-organized, safe and attractive classroom environment
- Participate in staff meetings, centre activities, and staff development

Job Type: Full-time Hourly wage: $15.00-$17.00 per hour plus the Alberta child care wage top up. All staff must hold or be eligible for an Alberta Child Care certification level.

Schedule:

- We are closed for 2 weeks during winter break, 1 week for spring break, 1 week in July and 1 week in August.

Experience:
- Childcare: At least one year of childcare experience is necessary.

License/Certification:
- An Alberta child care certification is necessary: https://www.alberta.ca/apply-for-certification
- First Aid Certification is necessary, but can be obtained within the first month of employment.
- Edmonton police record check, with the vulnerable sector (dated within 6 months)
