Company Description PE Gate is a boutique private equity platform focused on acquiring and scaling small businesses across Canada. We're an OSC-regulated Exempt Market Dealer operating at the intersection of a hands-on PE firm and a regulated investment platform.

Role Description We're building our internal diligence and acquisitions function, and we're looking for a Senior Analyst to be a core part of that work.

From day one, you'll have meaningful ownership across the deal process — financial diligence, modeling, transaction execution, and investment memos. You'll work directly with the GPs, contribute to investment committee decisions, and gain broad exposure to how a deal comes together from first screen to close.

Day-to-day, that means running quality of earnings analysis, building LBO models, coordinating external advisors, reviewing deal documents, and preparing clear internal reports. Over time, you'll take on more of the deal lead function as the platform grows.

There's also a forward-looking component to this role: we're actively integrating AI tools into our diligence workflow and want someone with both the analytical foundation and the intellectual curiosity to help build that out.

This is a strong fit for someone coming out of transaction advisory, audit, or financial due diligence who wants to move into a principal investing environment — with real responsibility and a clear path to grow.

Qualifications

Must-Have





- 1–2+ years of experience in financial due diligence, transaction advisory, or audit
- Strong understanding of financial statements and core accounting principles
- Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills, including experience building standardized, scalable models
- Ability to synthesize complex financial and operational information into clear, actionable outputs
- Strong written and verbal communication skills — investment memos and diligence reports are a core deliverable in this role
- Self-starter comfortable operating with autonomy in a lean, entrepreneurial workplace
- High attention to detail and strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities

Nice to Have

- CPA designation or active CPA candidacy
- Experience with quality of earnings analysis and formal transaction diligence processes
- Exposure to LBO modeling, M&A; valuation, or investment memo writing
- Familiarity with Canadian GAAP, IFRS, and small business financial structures
- Prior experience in a principal investing or private equity environment
- Interest in or hands-on experience with AI tools applied to financial analysis or document review

- Finance (FN1 & FN3): Financial analysis, LBO modeling, DCF and returns analysis, and valuation work — particularly strong for candidates pursuing a Finance elective depth on the CFE
- Financial Reporting (FR4): Quality of earnings analysis, financial statement review, and normalization adjustments
- Strategy & Governance (SG2): Industry analysis, competitive positioning, and value creation work across portfolio companies
- We have a registered CPA on the team who can serve as your PERT mentor through the EVR, so you can fulfill your mentorship requirement internally. Your hours here count toward your 30-month practical experience requirement.
