Job Posting

Position Summary The Production Manager is SCCI’s operations and delivery engine on the production floor.

The mandate is direct: make sure the team has everything it needs to hit the schedule — materials, tooling, equipment, staffing, priorities, and information — and make sure the team delivers on its commitments. SCCI’s core work is the build-to-print assembly and integration of higher-level space hardware, supported by an in-house SMT line that feeds the circuit card assemblies (CCAs) those products are built on. The manufacturing flow can be learned on the job; the discipline of resourcing the team, driving the work, and closing out commitments is what this role is hired for.

Reporting to the General Manager, the Production Manager is accountable for delivery and schedule — getting committed hardware out the door on time — working within SCCI’s established quality system rather than owning it. All work runs inside IPC J-STD-001 with Space Addendum, the applicable customer data package, and SCCI’s AS9100 quality management system, with workmanship conformance owned by the quality and technical functions. As a build-to-print manufacturer, SCCI builds strictly to customer-released data — this role holds no design authority, and its discipline is faithful execution to drawing, specification, order of precedence, and customer quality clauses.

The SMT line supports the add-on and integration work rather than being the end product: it feeds qualified CCAs into the higher-level assemblies that are SCCI’s deliverable. Process authority (assembly methods, SMT profiles and programs, integration and test procedures) stays with the technical team; the Production Manager runs each stage to that qualified process and escalates process issues rather than altering them. The value this role adds is orchestration and accountability, not process authorship.

Key Responsibilities

Resourcing the Team — Clearing the Path to Schedule

- Make sure every job reaches the floor ready to run — complete kit, correct tooling and fixtures, current documentation, and an available, qualified operator — so nothing stalls for want of preparation.
- Confirm material and kit readiness with Stores and Procurement ahead of need; chase shortages and expedite to protect committed dates.
- Keep equipment up and staffed; coordinate preventive maintenance, calibration, and field-service-engineer (FSE) support so downtime doesn’t threaten the schedule.
- Balance workload and coverage across the team and adjust priorities in real time to keep the critical path moving.
- Remove cross-functional blockers — pull in quality, the technical team, planning, procurement,

and engineering as needed to keep work flowing.

Driving Commitments and Accountability

- Own execution of the production schedule at the floor level; turn Planning’s commitments into clear daily and weekly priorities the team understands.
- Run a disciplined operating cadence (daily production meeting, WIP and board reviews) that surfaces status, risk, and blockers early.
- Hold the team to its commitments — set explicit expectations, track progress against them, follow up, and drive work to closure.
- Escalate delivery risk to the Operations and Planning Manager early and with a recovery plan — no surprises.
- Provide accurate, timely status and WIP visibility; feed real capacity and progress data back into planning and commit dates.

Flow and Process Execution

- Manage work-in-process and flow across SMT, add-on and secondary assembly, integration, inspection, coating, test, and pack-and-ship — keeping the add-on and integration value streams, SCCI’s core output, moving without bottlenecks or idle stations.
- Run every stage to the qualified processes and procedures defined and owned by the technical team; do not change assembly methods, SMT profiles/programs, or integration/test procedures without technical-team authorization.
- Escalate process drift, yield loss, and defects to the technical team, and implement their approved corrections on the floor.
- Partner with the technical team to keep operators trained and certified on current processes so no stage — including the SMT line — is a single-point dependency.

Working Within the Quality System

- Ensure the team executes within SCCI’s quality system — to IPC Class 3 / J-STD-001 with Space Addendum, IPC-A-610, and the applicable data package — and never works around it to make a date.
- Make sure builds honour contract order of precedence and customer quality/engineering clauses at the point of build.
- Support Quality on MRB and non-conformance (NCR) disposition, and keep material moving through hold and disposition without shortcutting the process.
- Support root-cause and CAPA execution by implementing and sustaining agreed corrective actions on the floor.
- Ensure build travelers, records, serialization, and configuration control are completed and maintained per AS9100.

Floor Leadership and People

- Lead, schedule,

and develop production technicians and specialists; set clear daily priorities and expectations.
- Ensure operator certifications (IPC J-STD-001, IPC-A-610) are current and matched to assigned work.
- Cross-train personnel to reduce single-point dependencies and protect delivery against absence.
- Hold consistent floor standards for workmanship, ESD control, foreign object debris (FOD) prevention, and cleanliness.

Continuous Improvement

- Identify and implement throughput, yield, and cost improvements on the production floor.
- Support the creation and upkeep of controlled process documentation and standard work to capture and preserve build knowledge.
- Partner with manufacturing and process engineering on line changes, recent product introduction, and first-article builds.

Controlled Goods and Safety

- Handle controlled goods and export-controlled material in compliance with Canada’s Controlled Goods Program and applicable export-control obligations.
- Maintain a safe, orderly workplace and enforce health-and-safety requirements across all production areas.

Qualifications

Required

- Proven operations or production management experience with direct accountability for hitting a build schedule and delivery commitments.
- A track record of leading teams and holding them accountable — setting expectations, following through, and driving work to closure.
- Strong resource orchestration: lining up materials, tooling, equipment, and people so the team always has what it needs to execute.
- Excellent cross-functional coordination with planning, procurement, quality, and technical teams, and calm, early escalation of risk with a recovery plan.
- Experience running an operating cadence and using ERP/MRP and work-order / WIP tools to manage and report progress.
- Comfortable reading engineering drawings, BOMs, and customer data packages — and able to learn a regulated manufacturing flow on the job.
- Eligible for Controlled Goods Program registration and security-clearance assessment (Canadian citizen or permanent resident able to meet CGP requirements).

Preferred

- Background in electronics manufacturing — ideally high-reliability aerospace, space, or defence assembly and integration.
- Working knowledge of IPC J-STD-001 / IPC-A-610 (Class 3) and an AS9100 quality management system.
- Familiarity with SMT (e.g. Mycronic, Vantage AOI), integration, and test equipment, or comparable platforms.
- Lean / Six Sigma or other formal continuous-improvement training.

Pay: $80,000.00-$120,000.00 per year

Benefits

- Casual dress
- Dental care
- Extended health care
- Life insurance
- On-site parking
