Position Overview

The City of Prince Albert invites applications for a seasonal position of Water/Sewer Labourer (Collection/Distribution) in the Public Works Department. This role is responsible for performing work involving the construction, maintenance and repair operations related to the wastewater collection and water distribution systems.

Required Qualifications

- Entry Level: Grade 12, Driver's License
- Level I: Within the first 6 months must write and pass Class I Certification in Water Distribution Exam, Equipment Operator certification, Fireman's Certification or Hoisting and Rigging Certification.

Principle Duties & Responsibilities

- Performs a variety of labouring tasks in Collection/Distribution construction, maintenance and repair operations.




- Uses equipment and material for thawing and freezing distribution systems.
- Uses equipment and material in flushing and cleaning collection systems.
- Assists in street isolation during construction and maintenance operations.
- Performs distribution system flushing operations.
- Assists in isolation and repair of water main breaks.
- Maintains log of service and maintenance work.
- Assists in the set up of batter boards.
- Ability to operate all types of hydrants.
- Ability to deal effectively with the general public and co-workers.
- Ability to work with concrete.
