Job Summary:
The Community Connections Mentorship Program (CCMP) creates opportunities for newcomers to build meaningful connections with mentors and participate in a wide range of activities related to employment, civic engagement, social inclusion, arts and culture.
The Program
Worker is responsible for recruiting, screening, training, supporting, and recognizing volunteer mentors; matching mentors with newcomers; facilitating community connections; and supporting the successful delivery of program activities.
The Program Worker provides client-centred services by assessing newcomer needs, developing settlement plans, providing follow-up support, making appropriate referrals, and maintaining accurate client documentation in accordance with funder requirements and organizational policies.
The role requires In-person work at multiple Locations (e.g. Community spaces such as public libraries) and proficiency with technology and online platforms (for example Zoom, Google Meet) to support clients in accessing virtual services and activities.
Maintaining positive relationships with community partners,
volunteers, newcomers, and CultureLink colleagues is essential to program success. All agency staff are expected to collaborate, support colleagues, and contribute to agency wide initiatives.
Duties
- Develop outreach strategies and materials to recruit diverse volunteer mentors from the community.
- Recruit, screen, interview, train, orient, and provide ongoing support to volunteer mentors
- Organise volunteer appreciation activities and initiatives to recognize volunteer contribution
- Assess newcomer needs, interests, and goals to support appropriate mentor matching and meaningful connections
- Match newcomers and volunteer mentors and monitor the progress and outcomes of mentorship relationships
- Coach mentors and mentees in establishing activity plans, addressing challenges, and achieving successful outcomes
- Conduct client intake, needs assessments, settlement planning, on-going follow-ups, and referrals to appropriate community and settlement services
- Apply a Gender-based Analysis Plus (GBA+) and client-centred approach when assessing needs, developing plans, and delivering services to ensure programming is inclusive and responsive to diverse client experiences
- Develop and maintain partnerships with businesses, public agencies and institutions, immigrant-serving organizations, and community groups to support newcomer integration and increase volunteer engagement.
- Organize community dialogue sessions, workshops, and activities that promote welcoming community for newcomers.
- Maintain accurate and timely client records, case notes, program statistics, and service data in applicable reporting systems (e.g., OCMS)
in compliance with funder and organizational requirements
- Support virtual and in-person program delivery using appropriate technology and online tools
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to coordinate services, facilitate referrals, and support positive client outcomes.
- Participate in agency-wide initiatives, meetings, training, and other activities that contribute to CultureLink’s mission and strategic priorities

Required Work Capacities
- Physical demands: sitting at a desk for computer work (50% of the workday) and meetings; lifting (files, laptop, and program supplies up to 5 kg); working in an open office
- Non-physical demands: regular evening work and occasional weekend work is required; travel between worksites; occasional deadlines; variety of tasks
- Social/emotional demands: teamwork; relationship/network-building; exposure to emotional situations; working closely with the public, with clients and with colleagues
- Cognitive/mental demands: attention to detail; self-supervision/autonomy; multitasking; organizational ability/time management, adaptability, sound judgement, effective written communication
Qualifications
- Post-secondary program or degree in a relevant field or a combination of equivalent experience and education
- Three years of community work experience
- Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Screening within the past six months
- Experience conducting client needs assessments, settlement planning, and referrals
- Knowledge of GBA+ and client-centered service delivery is an asset.
- Fluency in languages other than English is an asset
- Robust oral and written communication skills in English
- Competency in Word, Excel, Outlook, and Internet
- Must be authorized to work in Canada
