Organization : Christian Missionary Fellowship International in Newfoundland and Labrador (CMFI-NL)
Type : Full-Time, Contract
Contract Term : 1 year, with the possibility of extension up to a total of 3 years, subject to satisfactory performance and organizational need
Hours : 30 hours/week (Monday - Friday, with occasional evenings and weekends for events)
Location : 40 International Place, St. John's, NL (hybrid)
Compensation : $20.67/hour
Role Overview The Project Lead is responsible for the day-to-day coordination and delivery of a funded entrepreneurship project supporting Black and Black-newcomer entrepreneurs through micro-grants, hands-on execution support, capacity building, and referrals. The role oversees participant intake, grantee onboarding, micro-grant administration, project tracking, CRM/data management, stakeholder coordination, and funder reporting.
The Project
Lead will serve as a key point of contact between participants, partners, the funder, and the internal project team.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day project implementation, ensuring activities remain on schedule, within scope, and aligned with project requirements.
- Coordinate participant intake, triage, eligibility screening, onboarding, and referrals.
- Administer the micro-grant process, including applications, selection, milestone tracking, documentation, and verification of grant requirements.
- Maintain regular communication with grantees and monitor progress against agreed milestones.
- Coordinate project programming, workshops, clinics, peer sessions, and other participant activities.
- Maintain accurate participant, grant, referral, activity, and outcome data within the CRM/case-management system.
- Coordinate project partners and service providers and track agreed deliverables.
- Serve as the primary day-to-day liaison with the funder and support responses to project-related requests.
- Support preparation of funder claims, progress reports, supporting documentation, and performance data.
- Track project outputs, outcomes, risks, issues, and key performance indicators.
- Support monitoring and evaluation activities, including data collection and outcome reporting.
- Maintain organized and audit-ready project documentation.
- Support outreach, community engagement, project events, and stakeholder meetings.
- Identify project risks or compliance concerns and escalate them appropriately.
Requirements
- Post-secondary education in project management, business, entrepreneurship, economic development, community development, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
- At least 2 years’ experience coordinating or managing projects, programs, grants, or community initiatives.
- Strong project management, organizational, and administrative skills.
- Experience with participant intake, onboarding, case management, grants, or funded programs is an asset.
- Experience working with entrepreneurs, newcomers, or equity-deserving communities is preferred.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Solid attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate project and financial documentation.
- Experience using CRM,
project management, database, or case-management systems.
- Strong reporting, data tracking, and spreadsheet skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a fast-paced project environment.
- Possess a proactive and positive attitude, with a demonstrated ability to think creatively and find solutions to challenges
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information appropriately.
- Ability to travel within the province and occasionally attend community or evening events, as required.
Assets
- Experience working in nonprofit or community-based programming
- Familiarity with budgeting or financial tracking for programs
- French language skills (written and spoken)
