Project Manager 1 (Safety Standards Modernization)

Hours of work: Full-time (37.5 hrs/wk) Flexible Work Role: Hybrid

Annual salary: $ 109,700.00 - 138,700.00

What you'll do The Project Manager, Safety Standards Modernization is responsible for leading the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the organization's Safety Standards. The role manages a multi-year transformation initiative to establish a modern, risk-informed, and sustainable system of safety standards, procedures, guidance documents, and supporting governance processes.

The role provides strategic leadership, project governance, stakeholder engagement, implementation planning, change management, and oversight of document development activities to ensure successful adoption of the new Safety Standards across the organization.

Key Responsibilities Project Leadership and Delivery:

- Lead the planning, execution, monitoring, and successful delivery of the Safety Standards Project.
- Develop and manage, work plans, schedules, budgets, risk registers, and status reporting.
- Coordinate activities across multiple workstreams, including standards development, implementation, communications,

training, document governance, and technology enablement.
- Manage project risks, issues, dependencies, and mitigation strategies, escalates issues as required. Safety Standards





Framework Development:
- Lead the development and implementation of the updated Safety Standards.
- Ensure appropriate separation between standards, procedures, technical guidance, work methods, and supporting

resources.
- Ensure standards are practical, sustainable, and aligned with operational realities.

Stakeholder Engagement:
- Build and maintain effective relationships with operational leaders, OHS specialists, subject matter experts, unions,

technical authorities, and corporate stakeholders.
- Facilitate workshops, consultations, working groups, and governance meetings.
- Resolve stakeholder concerns and competing priorities while maintaining project objectives.
- Obtain organizational alignment regarding standards content, governance, and implementation approaches. Change

Management and Implementation.
- Develop and execute organizational change management plans supporting implementation and adoption.
- Partner with communications and training teams to support awareness, readiness, and implementation activities.
- Develop implementation roadmaps, transition plans, and sustainment strategies.
- Identify and address barriers to implementation.

What you bring

- Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Management, Risk Management, Business Administration,

Organizational Development, Compliance Management, or a related discipline
- A minimum of 5 years experience leading complex, cross-functional projects or transformation initiatives, preferably in a

safety, operational, industrial, utility, construction, or other high-risk environment.
- Demonstrated experience developing and implementing standards, governance frameworks, management systems,

policies, procedures, or other operational controls.
- Strong knowledge of occupational health and safety principles, risk management, document governance, and

organizational change management.




- Proven ability to lead stakeholder engagement activities and build alignment across operational leaders, subject matter

experts, unions, technical authorities, and corporate partners.
- Strong project management skills, including planning, budgeting, scheduling, risk management, issue resolution, and

executive reporting.
- Excellent facilitation, communication, influencing, and relationship management skills, with the ability to manage

competing priorities and drive outcomes without direct authority.
- Demonstrated ability to lead implementation activities, support organizational adoption, and embed sustainable practices

across a large organization.
- Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Registered Safety Professional (CRSP), or change management

certification (e.g., Prosci) is considered an asset.
- Awareness and practical experience using artificial intelligence (AI) and generative AI tools to support project

management, business processes, knowledge management, or continuous improvement is considered an asset. What we offer
