Ever After Custom Homes
Project Manager - Custom Homes & Major Renovations
Location: Burlington, ON | Projects throughout the GTA & Southern Ontario
Take Ownership. Keep Projects Moving. Build Homes That Matter.
What if your next project management role gave you the opportunity to do more than simply manage schedules and paperwork? At Ever After Custom Homes, we don't just build houses - we create the setting for our clients' tomorrows. We are a growing custom home builder specializing in ground-up custom homes, major additions, whole-home renovations, and residential development projects throughout Southern Ontario.
Our approach is built around quality, transparency, strong relationships, and an exceptional client experience. As we continue to grow, we're looking for an experienced, highly organized, and solutions-focused Project Manager who can take genuine ownership of multiple residential construction projects from pre-construction through final completion.
This is not a desk-only project management position. We need someone who understands construction, anticipates challenges before they become delays, keeps trades and materials moving, communicates confidently with clients, and takes responsibility for delivering successful projects.

About the Role
As our Project Manager, you'll be responsible for the overall planning, coordination, financial management, and execution of your assigned construction projects. You'll work closely with company ownership, Site Supervisors, our Project Coordinator, designers, consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure projects are completed efficiently, professionally, and to the standards our clients expect.
You should always understand where each project stands - including schedule, budget, procurement, trades, client decisions, risks, and next steps - and be prepared to proactively move the project forward.
Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and actively manage detailed construction schedules from project startup through completion
- Plan construction sequencing, maintain short- and long-term look-ahead schedules, and identify upcoming requirements before they affect progress
- Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, consultants, inspections, material deliveries, and other project activities
- Work closely with Site Supervisors to ensure field activities remain aligned with project schedules, drawings, budgets, and priorities
- Identify scheduling conflicts, constraints, delays, and potential roadblocks early and develop practical solutions
- Obtain and review subcontractor and supplier quotations, confirming scopes are complete and pricing is competitive
- Prepare scopes of work, purchasing requirements, and procurement plans while ensuring trades have the information, materials, and decisions they need before arriving on site
- Build and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors and suppliers while helping expand our preferred trade partner network
- Maintain accurate project budgets, committed costs, actual costs, and cost forecasts throughout construction
- Assist with quantity takeoffs, material pricing, trade costing, and purchasing decisions
- Identify potential cost overruns early, communicate concerns to ownership, and help protect project margins without compromising quality or client satisfaction
- Ensure change orders, extras, and additional work are properly documented, priced, approved, and communicated
- Support accurate client invoicing and maintain awareness of project cash-flow requirements and upcoming major expenditures
- Serve as a primary point of contact for clients throughout construction, providing clear, professional, and proactive updates
- Communicate upcoming selections, decisions, schedule requirements, changes, and potential impacts while managing client expectations professionally
- Document key client decisions and approvals and address concerns promptly before they escalate
- Review architectural drawings, structural drawings, specifications, engineering, and consultant documentation
- Identify drawing conflicts, missing information, constructability concerns, and technical issues before they impact field operations
- Coordinate RFIs and work with designers, architects, engineers, consultants, and municipal officials as required
- Support Site Supervisors with technical and construction issues and participate in regular site meetings and project reviews
- Use JobTread as a central project management tool, keeping schedules, budgets, tasks, milestones, client decisions, change orders, documentation, and communication records accurate and current
- Help ensure daily logs, project updates, and other required documentation are completed and accessible to the wider team
Qualifications
- 5+ years of construction project management experience preferred
- Robust residential construction experience, ideally involving custom homes, major renovations, additions, or similar complex residential projects
- Strong understanding of residential construction sequencing, building practices, and Ontario construction requirements
- Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, engineering, and construction drawings
- Experience managing project schedules, budgets, subcontractors, procurement, and multiple active construction projects
- Strong understanding of construction costing, subcontractor pricing, material costs, and project financial management
- Comfortable obtaining quotations, reviewing scopes of work, and assisting with quantity takeoffs
- Highly organized with excellent time-management skills and the ability to manage many moving pieces simultaneously
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Confident communicating with clients, trades, suppliers, consultants, designers, and internal team members
- Able to make decisions, solve problems independently, and take action without waiting to be directed at every step
- Calm and solutions-focused when schedules, site conditions, or construction challenges change unexpectedly
- Comfortable holding trades and team members accountable while maintaining professional working relationships
- Proficient with construction management technology and comfortable learning new systems
- Experience with JobTread is an asset
- Valid Ontario driver's licence and reliable transportation
- Willing and able to travel regularly to active construction sites throughout the GTA and Southern Ontario
- Someone who values honesty, accountability, quality workmanship, continuous improvement, and doing things properly

- Have a voice in improving the systems, processes, and construction operations that support our continued growth
- Work with a team that values strong relationships, accountability, transparency, professionalism, and high-quality work
