Harbour Construction is hiring an experienced Project Manager based in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. This is a hands-on contributor role for someone with previous construction project-management experience who can take responsibility for assigned projects and deliver dependable results.

Working closely with Superintendents and field teams, you will manage project schedules, costs, documentation, procurement, subcontractors and stakeholder communication. You will help turn project requirements into practical plans, resolve day-to-day issues and ensure commitments are completed safely and professionally.

This role is well suited to a proven Project Manager who enjoys being close to the work, contributes positively to the team and can be relied upon to keep projects moving.

What You’ll Manage

As our Project Manager, you will:

- Manage assigned heavy civil construction projects from planning and mobilization through closeout.
- Monitor project scope, schedules, budgets, quality, safety, risk and contractual requirements.
- Review drawings, specifications, contracts and other project documents.
- Develop practical project plans, schedules, milestones and short-term priorities.
- Work closely with Superintendents to coordinate sequencing, resources and field requirements.
- Ensure field teams receive the drawings, approvals, materials and information needed to perform their work.
- Track project costs, progress and performance against approved budgets and schedules.
- Prepare forecasts, progress reports, billings and project updates.
- Coordinate procurement, subcontractors, suppliers and material deliveries.
- Manage RFIs, submittals, shop drawings and other technical documentation.
- Manage project changes, including scope review, pricing, documentation and follow-up.
- Review purchase orders, invoices and subcontractor billings.
- Coordinate quantities, production information, survey requirements and as-built records.
- Maintain productive communication with clients, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers and internal teams.
- Identify project concerns early and work with the appropriate people to resolve them.
- Maintain complete, accurate and current project records.
- Support quality inspections, deficiency correction and project closeout.
- Promote safe work practices and compliance with company, client and regulatory requirements.
- Contribute to a cooperative, accountable and solutions-focused project team.

Required Project Management Experience This position requires previous experience working as a Project Manager with direct responsibility for construction-project delivery. It is not intended as an entry-level project-management opportunity.

The successful candidate must have:

- At least three years of experience working as a Project Manager in construction.
- Demonstrated experience managing projects through planning, execution and closeout.
- Meaningful experience in heavy civil construction.
- Experience with earthworks, excavation, grading, underground services, roadwork, concrete work or site development.
- Previous responsibility for project budgets, schedules, cost control, documentation and contractual requirements.
- Experience working closely with Superintendents, Foremen and field personnel.
- Experience preparing forecasts, tracking costs and reporting project progress.
- Experience coordinating subcontractors, suppliers, clients and consultants.
- Knowledge of procurement, contract administration and change management.
- Experience managing RFIs, submittals and technical project documentation.
- Strong organizational, communication and problem-solving skills.
- Sound judgment and a consistent record of following commitments through to completion.

Education and Professional Qualifications

- A degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Management or a closely related discipline.
- An equivalent combination of relevant heavy civil construction experience and technical training may be considered.

Additional Assets





- Project Management Professional designation.
- Professional Engineer, Engineer-in-Training, Certified Engineering Technologist or a related skilled designation.
- Experience with Primavera P6, Microsoft Project or another scheduling platform.
- Experience with Procore, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Civil 3D or other construction-management software.

Work Environment

- This position is based in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. The role combines office, field and active project-site responsibilities.
- Travel to project sites will be required.
- A valid driver’s licence, reliable transportation and strong English communication skills are required.
