Job Overview

Position: Culinary Team Member (Temporary Permanent Part‑time). Location: Trillium Court Home, Kincardine, ON. Shift: 6:00 AM – 2:00 PM, Tuesday, Friday, and every other weekend. Employment is expected through February 2027.

Responsibilities

- Serve food to residents according to individual diets and preferences.
- Observe time limits for meal serving and maintain food at proper serving temperature.
- Assist cooks in cleaning and preparing uncooked foods such as salads, vegetables, and fruits.
- Follow basic instructions for preparing straightforward foods such as breakfast items, basic desserts, and garnishes.
- Clear plates and trays, load and operate the dishwasher.
- Clean pots, pans, and cooking utensils as per procedure.
- Participate in proper storage and labeling of dietary supplies and food, including leftovers.
- Adhere to departmental policies regarding quality assurance, fire, safety, environment, and infection control.
- Assemble nourishment carts and stock unit kitchenettes.
- Participate in facility meetings and attend in‑service education programs.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

- High School Diploma or higher.



Academic certification or degree in nutrition or a food service program is an asset.
- Previous dietary skills, knowledge, and experience in institutional, health‑care, restaurant, or hospitality food service settings is an asset.
- Ability to read, write, and understand simple verbal and written English instructions.
- Ability to work safely, following established safety practices and procedures.

Requirements

- Must meet the physical requirements of the position: standing for long periods, moderate to heavy lifting, fast‑paced environment.
- Must be available to work days, evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays.
- Must provide a complete and current (within three months) Vulnerable Sector Check, including a Criminal Background Check, or be willing to obtain one.

Compensation

Hourly rate: $22.59 – $25.28, based on qualifications and experience. Additional benefits include health, financial and long‑term career growth support as part of Extendicare’s total rewards package.
