Position Overview
Kopahawakenum School on the Flying Dust First Nation near Meadow Lake Saskatchewan requires a TERM HeadStart/Nursery Instructor. Kopahawakenum School is an Aboriginal HeadStart/Nursery, and K-8 school.
Responsibilities
- Be sensitive to the needs of students
- Be reliable, motivated, and a team player as well as capable of working independently
- Assess students in initial screening, ongoing developmental, and specialized assessments
- Utilize organizational skills and planning abilities to include assessment process as well as plan and program holistic age-appropriate activities (physical, social-emotional, spiritual, and intellectual)
- Work in a multi-cultural community and engage students of varying abilities
- Establish and maintain close communication with parents and family members, including home visits when necessary
Qualifications
- Diploma or Certificate in Early Childhood Education
- Must lead a healthy lifestyle
- Positive role model
- Maintain and support confidentiality
- Solid organizational and planning skills
- Knowledge of First Nation culture and values
- Classroom behavior support skills
- Professional and ethical classroom practice
