About The Role

PS Consulters is building a dedicated quality assurance practice to serve testing-as-a-service engagements with public sector clients in Western Canada. These clients run substantial application portfolios: public-facing services, insurance and claims platforms, and large enterprise SaaS estates, and they procure testing capacity as a managed, on-demand service rather than one project at a time. That model rewards testers who can land in an unfamiliar system, understand it quickly, and produce work that stands up to audit.

The roster spans the full testing lifecycle: functional and regression testing, automation development, API and integration testing, and coordination of user acceptance testing with business stakeholders. Assignments range from short, intense release windows to multi-month project engagements. The successful candidates will work within established client test-management frameworks while bringing their own discipline in evidence, traceability, and explicit defect writing.

The role is contracted through PS Consulters with assignments matched to client demand.

Compensation is hourly at competitive market rates; applicants are asked to state rate expectations. Work is delivered in English. Equipment and access are typically client-provisioned; secure handling of client data is a condition of every assignment.

This is an anticipated contract role tied to an active public sector procurement. Start dates depend on award and onboarding timelines. Responsibilities

- Analyze requirements, user stories, and design documents to build test strategies and detailed test plans
- Design, document, and execute manual functional, regression, and integration test cycles for web and enterprise applications
- Build and maintain automation suites at both the UI layer and the API layer, and integrate them into client CI pipelines where available
- Perform API testing (Postman or similar) and back-end data validation with SQL
- Log, triage, and track defects with clear reproduction steps,



severity assessments, and supporting evidence
- Maintain requirements-to-test traceability matrices suitable for public sector audit expectations
- Plan and coordinate user acceptance testing: preparing scenarios, supporting business testers, and consolidating sign-off evidence
- Support release-window testing for enterprise platforms, including regression scoping under time pressure
- Report test progress, coverage, and quality risk to project and client leadership in plain language

Requirements

- 5+ years of professional software testing experience, including at least 2 years building test automation
- Hands-on automation experience with at least one of Playwright, Selenium, or Cypress
- Solid API testing experience and working SQL for data verification
- Demonstrated experience writing formal test documentation: plans, cases, traceability, and closure reports
- Experience testing in structured environments with change control and release gates
- Strong written and spoken English; test artifacts are deliverables in these engagements, not by-products

Qualifications

- Legally eligible to work in Canada: Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or valid work permit
- Available as an incorporated (corp-to-corp) or T4 contractor
- Able to state hourly rate expectations and earliest availability date in the application
- Committed to secure handling of client data on every assignment

Nice to Have
- Release and regression testing on large ERP or enterprise SaaS platforms; Oracle Fusion experience is a particular asset
- Performance testing (JMeter, k6) or accessibility testing exposure
- Public sector delivery experience in Canada
- ISTQB or equivalent certification
