Quality Engineer — Contract (6 Months)

We're looking for a motivated recent graduate to join our client's team on an initial 6-month contract as a Quality Assurance / Automation Enginee r. You'll work alongside experienced developers and QA professionals, gaining hands-on experience building and maintaining automated test frameworks using Java and Seleniu m. Strong performance may lead to a contract extension or full-time opportunity.

What You'll Do

- Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts using Java and Selenium WebDriver
- Execute automated and manual testing for web-based applications
- Perform functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end testing across environments
- Collaborate with developers and product managers to define test strategies and acceptance criteria
- Identify, document, and track defects through to resolution
- Test and validate REST APIs using tools such as Postman or REST Assured
- Contribute automated tests to CI/CD pipelines and build workflows
- Support QA best practices, automation standards, and test documentation





What We're Looking For
- Recent graduate with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
- Academic, internship, co-op, or personal project experience with Java development
- Hands-on experience or coursework using Selenium WebDrive r for test automation
- Understanding of software testing concepts, including functional, regression, and end-to-end testing
- Familiarity with RESTful APIs and API testing fundamentals
- Exposure to test frameworks such as JUnit, TestNG, and Selenium
- Experience using source control tools such as Git
- Able to commute to Markham, ON 4 days per week

Nice to Have
- Experience building automation frameworks with Java, Selenium, TestNG, or JUnit
- Exposure to REST Assured, Postman, or API automation testing
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or GitLab CI
- Understanding of Agile/Scrum development methodologies
- Exposure to performance testing tools such as JMeter
