Overview The Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring product quality and compliance throughout the product lifecycle. This role provides technical leadership in problem solving, quality systems, customer and supplier engagement, and continuous improvement initiatives. The Quality Engineer works cross‑functionally to support manufacturing, engineering, suppliers, and customers while maintaining compliance with regulatory and contractual requirements.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Serve as a primary quality liaison with customers and suppliers, addressing quality concerns and driving corrective and preventive actions.
- Lead quality engineering activities for internal and external issues, including structured problem‑solving methodologies such as 8D, 5‑Why, Ishikawa, and process audits.
- Develop, implement, and maintain Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) in collaboration with Production Support Engineering, ensuring all key characteristics are identified and controlled.
- Prepare clear, professional written technical responses to customer quality issues, including coordination of RMA processing and follow‑up actions.
- Lead cross‑functional teams to investigate quality issues, identify root causes, and implement effective technical solutions.
- Review and support engineering and process changes, ensuring Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) are processed smoothly through established routing systems.
- Track and resolve quality issues related to new product introductions; develop control plans and customer‑required quality documentation.
- Support First Article Inspection (FAI) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) activities, including supplier source control stamping where applicable.
Accountabilities
- Obtain and maintain Enhanced Security Clearance through the Government of Canada.
- Protect and maintain the confidentiality of sensitive company and customer information.
- Comply with all company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
- Diploma in Engineering Technology (minimum three years) or an Engineering degree; Quality‑related certifications (e.g., ASQ, AIAG, Lead Auditor) are strongly preferred.
- Minimum two years of experience in a quality role, including at least one years as a Quality Engineer.
- Certified Quality Systems Lead Auditor experience preferred.
- Strong organizational, time management, and prioritization skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a professional and diplomatic approach.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and drive initiatives to completion.
- Willingness and ability to travel within Canada, the United States, and Mexico as required.
- Strong commitment to continuous learning, professional development, and continuous improvement.
- Proficiency in creating technical reports, presentations, and training materials.

- Internal: Employees at all levels and across all departments.
- External: Customers, suppliers, auditors, trainers, DND QAR, and partner organizations.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Office environment (including customer sites), requiring extended computer use and meetings (~50%).
- Laboratory and engineering development environments, including range‑related activities (~10%).
- Manufacturing environment requiring standard PPE; standing, repetitive tasks, and lifting up to 10 lbs. (~20%).
- Travel up to 20% of the time for supplier audits and customer support.

- Consent to and complete a criminal record check
- Be eligible for and successfully complete a Controlled Goods Program (CGP) Security Assessment
- Be eligible to obtain a Restricted Possession and Acquisition Licence (RPAL) and maintain it after company provided training
In addition, candidates must:
- Be eligible to obtain and maintain a Government of Canada security clearance under the Contract Security Program (CSP), as required for the role
For certain roles with financial or inventory responsibilities, candidates may also be required to:
